Ok here is the deal..
My rear deck is 16 years faded, has big black 6x9 circles above my speakers (its like the dust clings to the magnetic spots) and It looks ugly, especially since I put in a new head liner and new rear side pillar fabric.
So Today, I went to CanadianTire (CT) and bought a can of "Dark Saphire Blue" paint.. I removed the rear deck, and vaccumed the carpet covering, then sprayed it with a few thin coats of paint..
I reinstalled it, and it looks pimpin! huge difference for me, I like it cuz its darker and matches way better!!
I also got a new license plate holder also from the dealership (30 bucks) and its prolyl my 4th one, damn things crack, garage doors close on them, snowbank dives bust em up etc..
so I just had my plate hanging by some wires.. now I sprayed the black holder blue, and got it all on..
Car smells a bit like fresh paint.. gotta luv that smell...
here is the pic..

| looks like brand new man!!! Is the fabric stiff now with that paint? Not that you are going to be touching the carpet on the rear deck... |

You know what, suprisingly it isn't all that stiff, just feels a little scratchy, but it looks gooood!
Thanks man.

PHASE-II
will be fabricating some sort of fibreglass speaker mounts/pods that will become homes for my Pioneer REV series 330watt 6x9's, they have some mean grills that are silver, and the cones are yellow.. so If i can make some sort of splash effect style pods, paint em the same color as my rear deck is, and angle them a bit into the car, it should look better and sound better..
(as you know, right now the 6x9's are sub-mounted underneath the rear deck (stealth style!)
I'm planning on gettin the tint this week, so they wont be so visible throught the tint, and will eliminate the need for a "stealth" install.. |

Just so you know, they actually make a dye for this instead of using paint. The brand name is SEM and they have a large selection of colors.
I use the dye on interior pieces that I need to color to match existing. They aren't exactly perfect but they are just in a spray can.
You can also take the code off the cowl tag for the interior to an upholstery shop and then can mix up the exact color your interior came with from the factory.
Just some thoughts if you do more down the road as the dye will last longer. |

Cool.. info is good to know, I only saw generic colors, (gray, black, tan.. in interior dye at CT)
I dont think the Bassmobile will be around long enough for me to worry about this fading...lol!! |
