Hi Im Jason,
I am buying a 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 next monday and I need some help with some things. I need as much info about this model year(s) of car as I can get. What Im mainly interested in is aftermarket grille, headlights, corner lights, a brake conversion kit (from anything that will fit, if you know of), and any swappable parts from other GM vehicles that will fit. Mainly what I want to do is throw a few bolt-ons on after the major tune up, get as much chrome on her as possible, havent decided on the wheels yet, hydros, and plenty comfortable. Shes gonna be my cruiser.
I also own a 97 Pontiac Grand Am SE, and hopefully soon a 63 Pontiac Bonneville and a mid-late 90ish S-10.
Any comments, advice and opinions are welcome.
Thanks |

nice choice, that 1982 delta... can you give us more info on the car itself? what motor will it have, I assume 307?
and the headlights will be the 4-light sealed beams. If you want to change them out, there are a few "hid look-alikes" out there to give you a blue beam. I havent heard about anything for cornering lense conversion, and other than smoking the tail lights, you might be out of luck.
I would drop that car to the ground, stick some nice spoker wheels and paint it candy apple red, with an embossed flame job or something  Lowriders are sweet units.
Welcome to the site man! |

Thanks man!!!
I love big bodies dropped to the ground so be expecting to see her posted up here scraping probably by april of 05. For the paint I am going to try to stick stock with silver/chrome/platinum (w/e color code the flake will be called by the company). I am thinking of going with either Cinnabar, Claret Metallic, Pastel Beige or Light Camel Metallic. The interior is deciding the color choices of the exterior, I like to keep it to a matching color sheme, so it will be one of these colors. To go with the Cinnabar and Claret Metallic it will be the Dark Claret Lansbury Velour, and to go with the Pastel Beige and Light Camel Metallic it will be Camel Tan Lombardy Velour. Or I might get lazy and just redo to w/e color scheme the car itself will be in.
For the wheels I probably am gonna go ol g style, with some 13"-14" D's or a good knock off of some kind. It seems like the right route to take with the og style fading, something new but different due to the new styles.
Heres the addy Im using to get all the color info:

I do know w/e color scheme I choose to go with ALL the interior pieces that either snap on or screw on (guage bezel, vents, and what not) will be painted to match exterior paint. The rest like the major plastic trim pieces and dash will be veloured with the factory colored carpeting.
As for the information on the car itself I dont know a damn thing about it. I dont know what engine it comes with, what options it has or anything. I dont *really* care cuz Im getting it for $250. I will be fine if it comes with no power anything and the 3.8 V6, she will be a *biggin* that will make a great cruiser no matter what. Im not really looking for speed with her, just a comfortable driver and cruiser.
I also found these for headlights are they the ones your talking about?

I cant find any aftermarket grille(s), I guess its not quite *as* popular in the low-low scene as I thought to have a big aftermarket. If I cant't find one off of another car to slightly mod to fit onto her, I will probably just have to custom make one, kind of figured I would anyways.
I will *try* my best to get pics of her the day I get her, and by the end of the day will probably have at least one mod done on her. |

I picked her up last night, Drove like a dream, super comfortable. She has 156k on her im guessing (it says 56k on the odo, dont know if its passed over the 100k mark yet dont doubt it though), interior some wear on the drivers seat, headliner is toast, drivers arm rest is toast, knob on window roller is off, exterior immaculate condition. The seals around the vynil top are even good, no surface rust and the paint doesnt even look faded. Missing one hubcap on passenger front, it has a diff olds one on it, a flat non wire hubcap. She ran great, she definitely needs a tuneup but other then that awesome car!!! I couldnt get pics due to it being dark out, but I should have some up in the next few days along with possibly some mod pics as well. I got the intake all ready mapped out on how I want to do it, grille mods and some removal of trim work to clean her up a bit. Oh yeah I got to put the emblem back on.
Ill have updates within the next couple days. |

| It would be great to see another lowrider on this site. There once was a 2dr delta 88 that had juice on it around my house but it was primered and looked bad. Those look awesome slammed though good luck. If you need any help w/ the suspension just ask, I'm pretty knowledgeable on Lowrider's! |

| Good I need help lol. Right off which would be easier price wise and maintainability? Air Ride or Hydros? I know I want Air Ride for the GA and what setup I want with that and was thinking just go the same route for the Delta as well. I was thinking of getting Cool Cars $1200 fast bag kit and adding some stuff to it. Like Remote Lay, specialized sit points which would be 3-as low as possible, 1.5" from ground and as high as possible. I was thinking of getting a reservoir tank and I want it fast as well. Do you think I would be able to get what I want out of that setup or would I have to step it up a notch, or get something completely different? |

Heres one of the wheel options Ive come up with so far.
http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=eproduct.asp&N=120+4294923107+4294923106+304231
I am mianly looking for original stock size 14" and gotta be wire but as few as possible. I am having a VERY hard time finding some 72 spoke Daytons. So I found these in the Jan 05 edition of LRM and thought Id check em out. If I cant find any 72 spoke D's then these are the wheels of choice. Of course lower then 32 spokes would work as well, if I could find any. |

Heres an update on my 82 Delta. Interior is being redone in a silky white cloth instead of chrome. Exterior is being smoothed out but no shaving except for riblets from snappies for the chrome cladding (which is no more), then painted original stock paint with chrome flakes. Wheels still havent decided on.
As of right now she sits with the Grand Am. She isnt running at the moment because she has been having some transmission problems. I am having a hard time finding another one and dont wont to pay rebuild costs. The problems are no reverse, and doesnt shift from 2nd to 3rd, remains in 2nd. Before this problem occurred there was a big leaking problem , took the pan off, grungy, noticed a leak on the electrical connection to the side. Got all that done new fluid, took it out same problem. any advice or tips? |
