i just got a 14" chrome edelbrock air cleaner, like this one . It fits snug on top of the carb and everything but what do i do with all the (what looks like) a/c vacuum hoses? theres no place on the air cleaner to put them. do i have to buy a breather filter too since there is no place for it on the new cleaner?
any answers would be much appreciated |

yes... some of the oil breather filters you can buy just fit right onto the valve cover, and look like mini cone-filters! They're kinda cool... Good luck with that!
You've likely got a vacuum hose to close the flapper valve in your old filter body when the engine is cold, and it redirects air from overtop of the exhaust manifold to heat the car up faster. Plug those lines, you wont need them with an open element filter.
If it gets REALLY cold there at winter time, I would hold off installation until it warms up a bit... They design all these complex systems into your car for a reason! |
