The part that is highlighted green doesn't light up when I push that button (fresh air intake), but the recycle air button lights up fine there (it lights up orange, both are supposed to when you press it). So I am wondering, what kind of bulb does that take? I haven't taken it apart yet, maybe someone can tell me.....Turbocharged400sbc? The picture of the car on the button lights up fine, it's just the indicator that doesn't light up when it's on.
BTW, that's not my car...mine has the dual climate, automatic HVAC control.

P.S. Why are all these bulbs burnt out? I know, it is 6 years old....
GM must have used faulty, short lived bulbs?
The Trunk, Gas, Trip Odometer, and Reset Trip Odometer buttons don't light up either, does anyone happen to know what kind of bulb is in those buttons? They are all of the same type....I'll see if I can get a picture.

This picture isn't of my car either, but it shows you what they look like...it doesn't have the Gas Cover Popper.
They are supposed to light up green like the dash, radio, etc. The buttons that don't light up are highlighted in green.

| I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow. I know what you mean about the clips, the radio faceplate has the same thing. In fact...the master power window control was a bunch of plastic clips holding it together too! |

Well, I just took it apart today, and it will require some soldering. The indicator bulb is actually a green LED!
No idea why that would be burnt out...
The HVAC control was held together by four little hex screws...so it was pretty easy to take apart.
Have to make a trip to RadioShack tomorrow! :)

Got those ones replaced tonight. Just had to take the switches apart, which required taking apart the driver side dash to get to them. The switches were in pairs in one block, their enclosure was held together by plastic clips. Once I got the plastic clips off (used a small flathead screwdriver), I could take the back of the enclosure off and could see the back of the circuit board. So then I figured out I needed to take off the front of the switches (once again, using a small flathead screwdriver to pry them off). Then I had full access to the circuit board and there was a light bulb for each switch. They each had a rubber blue cover to give that greenish tint when lit up. So all I had to do was desolder the old bulbs out, take the blue rubber things off, install on new bulbs, and then solder in the new bulbs. It's nice to be able to see buttons in the dark! :)

I got that one replaced today. I went to RadioShack and had to buy the 20 pack of assorted LEDs because they didn't sell 3mm green LEDs separately for some ungodly reason...but $2.59 for 20 LEDs is a pretty good deal anyways!
So now my car is fully lit! :D
