I figured everyone might like a chance to brag about their systems, and why they chose the components that they did....

soooooooo.......dont be shy....

LETS HEAR IT!!!!!

tell us about your system, the components you used, how you set it up, and why you used the components that you did....i'm honestly curious and interested in hearing what everyone else is running, and why....

Hmm...no one posted here yet....well, I guess I'll make this a SoundDomain picture exclusive post..haha

Here it goes:

First up on the list would be the Head Unit:

Ahh...yes....an Aiwa CDC-MP32 Head Unit, ask me why I chose it and I can certainly tell you I wouldn't choose it again. I got it as a gift from my parents as a gift because of my grades being good. It had just came out and it was one of the best (only) mp3 head units on the market at the time (well, at best buy anywayz). $253 smackaroos. Magic Flap.....HAHA!

Next Up, the Line Driver/Crossover/Ground Isolator/VU Meters:

A unit that I have yet to review, can't tell you how it works cause it's not hooked up yet, it will probably be hooked soon though since my car finally works properly :P . It was only $9.99 online (not including the $10 shipping charge), so what the hell, main reason I chose it would be the Line Driver (Head Unit gives out only 2 volts (so Aiwa says anyways), this thing puts out up to 10 volts. The crossover is also a plus.

Now, the front speakers:

One of the sweet sounding components of the system, Infinity Kappa 3.5" speakers with external crossovers for $53 (including shipping). Great Deal! These are the best 3.5" speakers I have ever heard. Crisp and clean. Got them because of the many good reviews online and the excellent price. What a deal.

And now comes the bumper/thumper/all around bass woofer -- a subwoofer:

Otherwise know as a 12" Adire Audio Shiva Mark III in a sealed enclosure. Very clean sound, very hard excursion, sounds good. Around $153 just for the sub (including shipping) straight from adire audio. I chose it because I didn't wanna buy some shitty subs anymore, I wanted to go adire, couldn't really afford the brahma, tempest was way too big to be a space saver...so it was the shiva. About $80 total for the materials to build the box.

Now what would a sub be without an amp?:

A Scosche 300 Watt 2-Channel Amp, >98db signal-to-noise ratio, certified 272 watts rms bridged at 4 ohms (straight to the shiva), built-in crossover, 12db bass boost, it all sounded good to me, so I bought it for $100, not bad at all. Not many people even have the scosche amp from what I know, they just came out with it a while ago. Good product.

I also have a Scosche 4 gauge dual amplifier wiring kit, includes a splitter block (1-4ga. wire to 2-8ga. wires). Works good I guess, I mean it's just wire. Pretty high quality from the looks of it. That's why I bought their amp too. Couldn't go wrong with the specs and price.

Total System Price: about $700

That's about it for now, might be something else in the future, but this is it for now.

Welllllllll....yes and no.....for the system you have, its not a big concern...however, getting into a powerful system, wire can make a BIG difference in sound quality, especially when youre talking RCA's..but i know what you're saying...I'm using the same kit, but with different RCA's...

What, no rear speakers?

I've seen the Scosche amps at Wally World...something new out, as far as the quality, i dunno, but i imagine they're about the same as a Jensen, which isnt a BAD amp for the $$$$

The sub i'm not familiar with whatsoever.... :P

the line driver/VU meter has my interest a bit peaked tho...where's you find this at? HMMMMM..another stereo part i cant afford but could find useful...

The deck i've seen before, and i dont thik its a real bad deck for the $$, although as you said, it wouldnt be my first choice...I've ran a couple aiwa decks, and they werent bad tho...the hideaway face is kinda slick...

Yea, the hideway face is KINDA slick until it starts to freeze at times and sometimes it ejects the cd you had in it while it's still closed and makes you so mad that you break the front "PANEL DOOR" part of the unit!

As for the wiring, I know, wiring does make a difference, in fact I was thinking of getting different RCA's, I might end up getting some new ones now that you mention it, but for the most part, any brand wire such as scosche, knoconceptcz, etc will do the trick. Monster shit is just damn expensive for what you get and not worth the money unless you got money crawling out of your a$$.

As for the Line Driver, I found it just searching for something else, don't remember how, but here's the link:
http://shop.vendio.com/audiooutlet/item/569843935/index.html
Oh yea, and it's DIN sized, so it's the size of an aftermarket head unit.

Hey stroker, since your in Wisconsin, I'll you something a little more about the Line Driver:

It was shipped from Wisconsin, here's the address:
Frohns Audio Outlet
5503 Schofield Ave Ste. C Schofield, WI 54476
715.241.8166

Don't know if it's close to you or not, but you might just have to pay only $10, plus tax of course.

hahahaha you're falling prey to the head pounding stereo gods, aren't ya? lol I have some updates I'll be making to mine as well..bought a different deck, an older model Alpine (which I normally HATE) which is a 3 disc indash changer, with the tuner as a remote assembly..its probably 7 years old, but in excellent condition, and is un-amplified, so it should produce a cleaner preamp voltage than an internal amplified unit...will also be replacing 2 of my amps, one with an older Kenwood which matches my front amp, and something larger for the subs, as they're straining with the Pioneer...trying to deal a buddy out of his MTX thunder 2300LE, which produces some pretty good wattage bridged mono.

ahhh, THAT...well, the guy is kinda being a prick about it..told me one price, then wanted another, so I'm exploring other avenues...he thinks its worth big $$$, which it is...to a point, BUT its also several years old, and missing both endcaps...I originally offered him $275 which he said he'd take...THEN found out the endcaps were missing, which I didn't care for, since I'm building the Vista to look clean and show off at various events, so I sandbagged a bit, then offered him $200, to which he replied that he wouldn't take any less than $300, so I told him I wished him luck, that amp will make a nice paperweight!

no, actually it was a local guy, although....I MAY bid on that one  That amp has a HELLACIOUS draw...he might not be running heavy enough wire or too small of a fuse, since they recommend a minimum of one capacitor, plus like a 150 amp primary fuse in the power line to the amp

i can't believe i never replied to this topic before now.

head unit: Clarion pro audio DRX9675z - pre amp only, 36 color display, angled face. bought this because i wanted a pre amp only head unit and i read the sound quality was awesome (and it is).
changer: Clarion 12 disc mounted under the armrest in the drivers seat. bought it because i love having a changer along with the cd in the dash.
front speakers: Infinity Kappa Perfect 6 1/2 component set mounted in fiberglass pods in the doors. bought these because i have always loved the sound of Infinity speakers and these did not dissapoint.
rear speakers: Infinity Kappa 3 way 6x9's. had these for like 4 years, still sound great.
subwoofers: 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2's, when i bought these my decision was between Infinity Kappa Perfect DVC's and the RF's. I heard the Infinity's didn't stand up to abuse very well so i decided to get the RF's, certainly don't regret it, they pound pretty good. had to fill all the braces on my trunk lid with expanding foam to keep the trunk lid skin from rattling.
amps: Directed 4500 75x4, Directed 600d 600x1 at 1 ohm. bought these because i liked the looks of them, the top mounted controls and they were supposed to be good sound quality amps and they are. my one complaint is that the 4 channel gets red hot.
wiring: Streetwires Zero Noise 3.5 RCA cables, Stinger and Lightning Audio 4 gauge wire, 2 Stinger 1 farad capacitors, Streetwires speaker wire, Stinger Maxi fuse holders in the trunk, Pheonix Gold fuse holder under hood
battery: Optima Yellow top deep cycle
extras: Stinger cooling fans, Street Glow neon, Cyberdyne digital amp temperature gauges, head unit and amps grounded at a common ground in trunk, noise filter on head unit power wire, B Quiet Xtreme, Dynamat Extreme, Dynamat Original, and Stinger Road Kill spray used to deaden the car.

If i could do it all over again, i wouldn't put the amp temperature gauges in. they look cool, but so not worth the effort.

head unit Pioneer 7500mp w/ custom uploadable oel screensavers/pics 3 sets of pre-outs, one more would be nice! Kicker 3.5's up front which are blown, looking to upgrade to 4" for more power handling. sony 6x9 three ways in back pushed by a 400W 4ch jensen amp. 2 12" eclipse 87 series subs pushed by a 1200w 2ch power acoustik saphirre series amp. 4 gauge wire up to thje distribution block then 8. need to add a second battery w/ my two compressors and system all going at once I'm on the way tro my 3rd altenator due to stress and this was a 100 amp one too! The subs pound but not quite as good as my old 18" rockford fosgate punch XLC!
