Hey 584olds, there are people here with older Oldsmobile here, 73Delta88 (doesn't race), 88 Coupe, amongst others that I am probably forgetting. Strokercutlass, he hasn't visited in a while (for obvious reasons), but he plans to come around soon too.
I myself have an 87 Delta 88, which I wouldn't exactly consider new, but it is FWD...

Hi 584olds, hello all,

I don't race, I collect timeslips.
The '50 88 Coupes in my Avatar are both "Cruisers" (2 years too new to be called "Rods"). They see little of the Drags, as I use timeslips to evaluate any "tuning" I've done, and I don't make many changes anymore.
In the past I've gone to some nostalgia meets, but since the associations discarded their "roots" in favor of revenue, they no longer interest me.
When I bought it, the red coupe ran 11.40s NA, and 10.60s on squeeze (in case anyone was wondering about those 14" slicks) with it's 468/TH400, but was a PITA to drive on the street.
Both will now consistently run 11.9s in street trim. The red coupe (425/TH400) can be driven on the street and the grey coupe (468/TH400) will drive anywhere in comfort.
Since NHRA has dropped the line from 11.99 to 11.49, I may try to get both down to the new limit without losing weight or giving up any streetability.
Regards, Norm |

| My 71 is strictly race BBO runs 10.80's. the 77' is a streetcar with a 355" SBO and a 175 hp shot it will run 11.90's on street tires through the exaust. I ham upgrading the fuel system and maybe put 200 or 250 shot to it to see what she will run :D |

| Well I have approx. 100 runs on the motor at 175 Hp and have not hurt the motor. Broke a tranny and a rearend though  . So I think with the right combo in the fuel delivery and timing it should be ok. I would like to get low 11's on street tires and exaust on it. Later...Mike |

The other side is: Everytime I've broken one, its replacement is bigger and better.
