Say if I were to rebuild my engine, word on the street is I can get my exhaust manifolds, engine heads, and upper intake manifold port and polished. Ceramic coating where applicable, but it would also be nice to rebuild the whole engine at the same time. I saw a kit at Northern Autoparts, is there any cheaper kits that are as complete as that one?

| You have a 3.8 right? If you do, yourself the parts to make you motor a Grand National motor, they did make FWD GN powered cars too |

GN powered FWD cars? i think you might be misinformed. i know they made a very rare Lesabre Grand National (i think only in 1986), but it wasn't more than an appearance and interior package, only performance item may have been a lower final drive ratio in the transaxle. also, big difference between a FWD 3.8 and a RWD turbo 3.8.
Brando, i'd save up for an L67 swap if i were you (unless you really do need a rebuild at the moment). |

I definately think my engine could use a rebuild, I'll probably get a copression test done and see how she goes, but the way she runs, it doesn't sound good. I'll just have to check everything over some day.
As for the L67 swap, is it pretty straight forward? What needs to be done?

| from what i've heard physically getting the engine and trans into the car isn't that big of a deal with the exception of the rear passenger side motor mount (have to fabricate a bracket) and having to make hybrid axles for it (GTP inner joints and shafts with delta 88 outer joints). the hardest part is the wiring harness, getting the OBD II computer and wiring harness spliced into the wiring harness for the car to work the idiot lights, speedometer, etc. is pretty hard i hear. |

Just a thought, but since the Delta 88 in 87 had the option of a Diesel 350, would a Rocket 350 fit in there?

same block I believe...
now if I rebuilt my engine, I'd stroke it to a 383,change the heads (305 heads suck),and get an intake and headers,and oh yeas a full race cam... probably if it wasn't for SMOG control, my car would be shredding tires more than it does now...I might however put a 307 in it...something about Olds... 8)

ok Brando..a couple things to make clear here...in 87 the delta 88, if it had a 350 diesel option, would have been a RWD fullsize car, and not a FWD....so no, a 350 wont fit....I had to look at your pics to be sure which body you had...
when you started talking 350 diesel I kinda went.. =; hooold up here.....

| Brando! If you change to an L67, you wont be able to use your car computer!!! I dont know of any OBD2 software! :-) |
