What do your car weigh (actual or guestimate) and what 1/4 times respectivly?
i am asking as i nowknow the weight of the 442...
she's over 2 tons! 4330 with Al in the car, and 1/2 a tank...
this is at the same trim that it was at UMM3 when we clicked off that 13.81 at 98.2 mph run in that hot and humid air...
just been curious... :D |

Hi James, hello everyone.

I used truck scales. Don't remember the exact numbers, but with half a tank, 3900+ is accurate. Add 190# for the driver.
Red Coupe is about 50# lighter (drum brakes vs disk) at 3850+.
I've run 6 different engines (not counting the two 394/hydros) in the Grey Coupe, and two in the Red. TH400s behind all.
I did use one engine in both: The (stock stroke) 431 with 8.1:1 CR, and 87 unleaded.
Grey coupe ran 11.96 @ 113 with a 3000 TC, 4.30 gears, and 28" tires,
Red Coupe ran 11.91 @ 112 using 3500 stall, 4.56 gears and 30" tires.
I'll post the numbers for my Chevs when I join a Chev forum. :)
Regards, Norm |

hey thanks fer the info....i know we werent talking about chevy's lol
well it looks like we are doing just fine at 4300lbs running a 13.8 with 98 mph trap speeds...
now if we can make 450 Hp and drop 200lbs of steel to make up for the extra weight of the Turbo's and plumbing...this 4300lb lead sled should be capable of low 10's or high 9's...i just wish i could find info on the drive losses of a 440T4 and 4l60E transaxles...would be a little more acurate...
before UMM3 or weighing the car the same program showed that a 4200 lb car (my guestimate at the time) with 330 Hp (another guestimate...both engines are factory rated at 160Hp and we have porting and exhaust mods etc the rear 3800 is rated at slightly more Tq than the 3100) should run 13.7
still no where near the 8 second passes the original Hairy olds could run...but when is a car too fast? lol |

Only guessing, but, I think you'll need more than 450 to get into the 11s.

Are you racing on a computer program or a drag strip?

How many more factors can/do you plug into the program?

In my case, it's when the rollbar police send me home.

sorry....i meant 450 each....
BTW a little off topic...but ZZP performance recently ran a 9.7 at 144+...with a twin Turbo 3800 GP...it was funny...the anouncer said GrandAm lol ( the GP beat the supercharged intercooled Viper)
here is the link to ClubGP HERE

right now its a Drag Sim program....i have it set at 20% losses...unfortunatly the program designers didnt anticipate anyone trying to input data on a Twin engine/drivetrain car....lol but it was pretty acurate before when it said that we should run a 13.8/13.7 and that was with my guestimated 4200 lb weight...
Quote: How many more factors can/do you plug into the program?
it will accept engine build data from the DynoSim program and import it into the Drag sim program...it does it all...even as far as Barometric pressures/altitude tire size...traction....i have a pirated version :D straight from one of my Russian friends
but as i said they didnt anticipate that rednecks like us would be trying to use it to Sim a Twin drivetrain car....
More info on it HERE

we dont have to worry about that....yet lol
we need a fully loaded Brinks truck to fall into our laps....

Pretty much the same as mine (ET_Analyst). I prefer to use timeslips.

| For another guesstimate, when I first ran my '72 Cutlass at the strip, it ran a 12.4@111...race weight of 3650 w/o driver, add 200 lb for driver.......this was the first run, and nothing was optimized on the car, but if it helps lol |

Here are two sets of output data for our car. Some of the input is as follows:
1 4330lbs
2 3.29 gearing with 25.8” static rolling radius
3 converter around 2250 stall
4 two inputs 325 and 350Hp @5200 rpm for the two runs
5 90F with 60% relative humidity
6 .38 drag coefficient
7 22 sqft of frontal area
8 93% transmission efficiency (700R4/4L60 number) and I have estimated that the program puts another 95.7% factor on top of that when you tell it AWD.
9 .2sec shift time. This is for a race transmission (.8 is stock and .4 is shift kit) but I felt like the overlapping shifting should have a similar effect. (but even at .4 it shows 320 Hp)
for a 13.81 at 98.21mph time
It looks like we are in the 325 to 350Hp range, our drive train is at least as efficient as a conventional AWD drive train. however may have some more rotating inertia losses because of the additional Tq converter and trans internals
and when i think that maybe the rear engine not being past 95% throttle might have something to do with the time...its still respectable... |
