hi guys...
the question that i want to ask is first sounds weird maybe because i dont have a much chance to compare american cars in stoplight in my country every day... also i never raced or dragged our olds instoplight dragging...
i just wonder that they say in sites like carsurvey.org and few more that these years oldsmobile models can beat mustangs or camaros in stoplight takeoff! is this true??? or is it because mustang driver doesnt really step on gas? ok i see there are alot reasons and conditions of that take off but i want to believe it or not? that our olds is really taking off fast from the line( i dont mind the final part of drag probably camaro or stang must win but taking off fastly from that cars are really amazing for such a car if the saying about our cars is true.. because i also feel that its taking off pretty quickly but i never had a chance to drag it in stoplight to a mustang or something likethat... :) |

from experiance, my '84 cannot beat v8 camaros or mustangs from 0-60 although i've smoked v6 camaros and mustangs. I had an 86 3.8 delta 88 previous to my current ride (pretty close to yours) and it was quick and could hold its own in mid range but against a v8 it didnt stand much of a chance acceleration wise. Basicaly, GM made your power to weight ratio to be more economical than sporty, and alot of those mustangs and camaros out there have 5 speed transmissions in them geared to support hard acceleration. Hope this helps
regards,

depends on a lot of things, but in all reality - a '90 Delta 88 with the 3800 motor just doesnt have a chance against a similar year mustang GT or camaro with the 5.0l. It just doesnt make sense mechanically.
I am sure that you could beef up your olds to win (or at least put up a fight). |
