Just found your board today, already I recognise some names from other boards, as i am sure some of you recognise me too, Anyways as my sig indicates I've owned 3 Cutlasses, prior to that other Olds related were a 85 Caprice wagon with a 307 and a 80 Toronado also a 307 car. I uploaded some pix of the 87 I used to have and if I can get my scanner to co-operate (or a new scanner) I have some pix of the 81 prior to and after its last repaint in 98

Hi DrRansom442,

Welcome to TOC.

That is, as long as you didn't bring your friend Brandon with you.

Regards, Norm

www.realoldspower.com Go there, and use the search function and search for the author "brandon" Now, sit down, because you are about to witness one of the dumbest things ever. The kid is a troll, and asks for advice, doesnt listen and then wonders why everything went so horribly wrong. Its kind of sad really. I mean hes a kid, but he doest really try to learn, so he is a pimple on the ass of the oldsmobile community. If you decide to join ROP, make sure that you dont pay attention to him, as we are trying to get rid of him... hopefully.

Brandon is ROP's resident village idiot, his shear brilliance is expressed in this post I dunno what to do

and no, I think its best to leave him on the one site (since he refuses to acknowledge he no longer owns any Olds products, nor does it sound as if he will again)

Don't know about andrewk, but I'm wondering which it is.

Is it a 260 or a 4.3?

Regards, Norm

260 cid is 4.3 liters and it is a V-8, just a really small one, they are common for the late 70s/early 80s....they had 2 barrels and were replaced by the larger  307...it really blew the kid's mind first time I took it in for an oil change (why get dirty, when someone else will do it for under $20 w/ coupon) "VIN says its a 4.3L, but its clearly a V-8" 10 minutes later (and grabbing the owner's manual from the glove box) for him to concede I wasn't nuts....modern SBOs 260/307/330/350/403

You might want to correct your sig and profile, to show it as a 4.3, not a 260.

I have always thought of 4.3 as the V6... I guess its apples to oranges though...
