I was thinking, getting rid of my a/c components would clean up under the hood of the delta a whole lot, not to mention help shed some weight and save on gas milage... it blows ice cold but i never use it because it doesnt get that hot around here... is this difficult? What would i need to do?

Hi Brianritchie21787, hello everyone,

IMO, very little. Look around at what you'll have left. Not too clean IMO.

You won't be able to measure any MPG gain on the highway. Weight doesn't have that much effect on MPH or MPG. It does on acceleration. If you need to gain about .05 seconds in the 1/4, that would be a quick way to get it done.

50 or so lbs, might make a small difference in MPG around town, but not enough to give up the AC.

I use my AC, less than 5 times a year, but it's always there, when I choose to.

Regards, Norm

by doing this, i could remove the compressor, reciever dryer, condenser, and evaporater giving a clear view and not to mention easy reach of the passenger side valve covers and plugs.

I know i wont notice it without the a/c on, by "gas milage improvement" i meant my car uses a noticable amount of gas when im running the ac, and also shows a significant loss of power. Sorry for the confusion.

Amen to that, maybe i'll give this one a little more thought.

It's not often that you see a working A/C system in these cars....especially at its age.

If it ain't broke...uh....don't remove it

LMFAO! so i take it you turn it on and pretend it"s shooting 60* air at ya eh?

sorry i just thought that was funny...

Brianritchie21787, I would keep it if i was you...
R12 is expensive....

or if you do get rid of it sell the refrigerant to a local AC shop...they'll evacuate the system...and you can make a few bux... R12 is still going for over 30$ a pound wholesale...

No, I got 4-60 air, 4 windows down going 60mph, or 4-80 air (usually on the highway) 4 windows down going 80mph.

Thats when the windows actually work
