Its the V6 3300. Looks nice, but kinda plain. How can I give it a little color, maybe clean it?

Get some good degreaser, and spray spray spray, and soon it will look like a new machine. Just be careful not to get degreaser on your paint...

i just recently cleaned mine and it isn't that hard. I covered up my alternator and the coil packs so lots of water couldn't get in them. I bought a can of engine degreaser from auto zone it was an orange can i think. I sprayed it on used a toothbrush to scrub a little then spray it off. its quite simple to do

spray it off with water?Where do I spray the degreaser, just go nuts and have the whole thing covered?
Also`what parts of the engine can I paint. I saw some paint that can stand up to 500 degrees f, so I thought I'd give the eingine a little color with it. |

don't cover the whole engine i just put degreaser on the top part of the engine that u can see and dont use a whole lot cause then it will be hard to get completely off. and yes spray with water....DO NOT CLEAN YOUR ENGINE AFTER U HAVE DRIVEN IT...i let it sit all night then cleaned it in the morning.

One more question about that water hose down. Engines have a lot of electrical components. So I'm thinkin electricity, water,.... electricity, water..... erm, electricity, water?

it won't hurt them as long as the car isn't running but cover up the major ones like the alternamtor and the ignition coils....don't dunp 30 billion gallons on it just use enough to get it clean. Once u try it you'll see its not that hard

when you rinse off the engine, do not use a spray attachment on the water hose, just let a medium to low stream come out without pressure and let it rinse off the engine. And, as was said avoid the electricals and don't directly "douse" them. If electricals are dirty too, use some spray cleaner and a good absorbant clothe or towel to clean and dry them before you degrease the rest of the engine bay.

I was talking to a friend of mine today, and he's a major car guy, he breathes, eats, and sleep cars, and he told me to make sure the car is running when I am doing it, and to cover up the plug wires and the thing that the wires connect to.
so now i dun know if to have it running or not. |

Have the car running when your cleaning it?!??! :ermm:
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and could be potentially hazardous!

I have done it both ways. If you are careful when rinsing the car off while it is running you run little risk of causing damage. If you have an older car with a mechanical fan that is the worse part because it blows the water all over the place. The reason for leaving the car running is that if you get water someplace it shouldn't the car would start to falter and run bad and you would have that signal to stop. If the car is not running and you get the water someplace it shouldn't be you won't know until you try to start it and it won't turn over, then youre stuck. This is especially true if you happen to be in a car wash place. I usually only do this when I want to clean/degrease the bottom of a car and engine compartment. Anyway, as I said, I have done it both ways...

Hi GraveReaper0, hello All
Quote: How can I give it a little color, maybe clean it? I just leave the hoods closed.
Open doors, hoods, and lids detract from the lines of a well designed car anyway.
