O.k. I'm new to this forum, but not new to building cars. So here's the poser I have. Is there a way to put a gauge cluster out of a 4-4-2 into the dash of a Supreme Brougham. I have already tried to see if the unit would just go right in and that was a NO. Bolting up was not the problem. the wiring placment is different. So the real question remains, CAN you just swap places with diodes in the wirng harness or is it a worthless veture? If so all I need is the placement of the diodes and their new homes. Do I just need to sell the thing? Beleive me, if I have to I'll just build one out of Auto-Meter gauges. I would like to install this cluster into my car. It looks good, comes with a tach (which I know will have to be independantly hooked up), and all the vitals gauges. Oh yes and it's OEM. So if I could get some help on this it would be great. If not I have a 4-4-2 gauge cluster for sale. LOL

I'm not sure about your 1983 but I had a 1979 Supreme (a few years ago)that I switched out the Supreme gauge panel with one from a 1979 Cutlass Calais with the Sport Gauge Package - Round Speedo, Tach, oil & water gauges, etc. With mine there was a large plug that held all the wires and it plugged into the back of the gauge panel. I had to move the wire locations around in the plug. Each wire was held in by a small metal clip, using a paperclip I was able to push the wires out the back of the plug. Of course you need to know what each wire controls. You'll need a wiring diagram or like I did each time you remove a wire you need to turn the key on to see what doesn't come back on and make a note of the wire color, plug location number & gauge or light it controls. Took me a few days to complete the job but the results were well worth it. Also I just remembered I did have the donor cars wiring to look at.
