So I just put a 2000 watt system in my trunk. And holy crap, I didn't even expect that much bass!!
When its cranked up it always turns heads. Every time I crank it up it litteraly hurts my ears, so I'm pretty sure its doing some damage.
I'll take pics as soon as I get a camera that works. The one I had my brother broke when he was stumbling around drunk.
Also having a bit of a problem. When cranked up with the lights on, they dim when they thump, and thats with a capacitor already installed. Now I read that when installing a cap, you need a farad for every 1000 watts, the cap I got came in a Stinger dual amp wiring kit and its only 1.2 farads. The amp is already an aftermarket with a higher max output. Is there something else I can do to juice up my power hungry amps? Its a pair of 1000 watt Kenwoods. Both bridged and each powering a 12" TypeR sub.

Loose the cap, it causes more problems then good. You're going to have to do the big three and quite possibly a new alternator to prevent dimming. A cap IMO, even if it works, will only mask problems. I know someone on here is just going to disagree and say use one.

Why not install a few batteries in the trunk, and run the amps separate from the vehicle's system. Charge in the garage at home. Saves much wear and tear on the (i am assuming) stock alternator. Thats a LOT of power!

Crank it up further. There's no need to fear deafness.
