Hello, The go fast bug has bitten again and I want to build something that sticks to the ground and scoots at the same time. I have had a lot of experience over the years with Camaros Challengers and the like but now it's time to build my sleeper. So ...I' asking for help looking for some places that will supply parts for a '89 Ciera like sway bars H.P. shocks. All help would be appreciated. Especially frustrating is not being able to find ground effect bumpers for the front. This would be for directing air flow a little differently and making some space to do a clean install of some driving and fog lamps so. Hey, Thanks everyone!!

You might want to check the local junk yard for a Ciera GT or International model which had factory gfx as well as FE3 and other orig. equipt sporty parts.

Check out www.performancecenter.com

ADDCO makes sway bars for your car, they have JET chips, drop in K&N or Airaid filter, Bilstein and KYB shocks, high flow catalytic converter, and a few other misc things.

Supercharged 3800 would make for a nice swap like the car andrewk listed has in it.

Even a modded 3.8 would be sweet.

3800s are nice but if you want actual fast fast you gotta go with a V8, and a car that can hold a V8, like a BIG BLOCK 455!!!!

???..Your on glue!...Since when does it need to b a V8..a 455 at that...to go fast...weight is a big issue for quickness....a heavy ass 455 in a mid-60's to 80's tank is quick but not that quick. Im sorry but the last time read up on it the "Muscle Car Era" is kinda done. IMPO why would somebody spend thousands of dollars on engine mods to make it burn more fuel? But if your into the whole Classic Car thing go nuts! I like V8's and the performance they give off but wont buy/or built one unless it was my only option!

...if you want your ceira to be different then do a SC 3800(seriesI-205Hp, seriesII-240Hp series III-260Hp but i doubt you can get your hands on a seriesIII for cheap)and the wiring gets worse to install as you go up in Series of 3800's. You dont need GFX to go faster either! The factory effects are kinda bland anyways. Your ceira only weighs about 2800-2900Lbs(about the same as a sunfire)and thats with a 3.8l..same car with a 2.8 weighs maybe 60lbs less then one with a 3.8...Hp for a basic 3.8-150-165....hp for 2.8-130-140. So if you want to make it a "Sleeper"..stay stock for everything but motor..even use those crappy tires it comes with from factory. What were they again?..195/70/14
Keep the rust if there is any...if there is a dent or dents. Perfect! That would make it more sleeper like. If all of the above is good enough then you have a "Sleeper"

Ya!..i used the term sleeper alot..I just find it funny to call a frontdrive family 4dr sedan a sleeper when i wasn't even intented to be anywhere near the performance level most would like it or claim it to be...I have a Ciera GT Coupe but i know its NOT fast. Thats why i like it..right in the middle. If I want fast ill buy a really quick European car like a Lotus...those little 4 bangers as well as the V6 European cars. Those cars are fast!! Having the ability to make 300+ HP out of the box without mods and would wipe the road with any moderately old 350 V8 regardless of what car is sporting it. Mate that European car with a 6Spd trans would be even better....hence why they stopped making V8's in every single car and kept them limited to cars that deserve one. Fuel economy is important when it becomes an investment! My 2 Cents!

^^That^^..I think there is some subtantial evidence in this post...According to Gravereaper a car with a V8 is the only thing that must be fast because it has a V8. Well doesn't a early eightys 307 have like 110-120HP?..As for glue sniffing I'm not sure but it cant be good for you!...Why cant ppl just except the fact that they know nothing of what they are talking about.

Im willing to admit im wrong...when im wrong!

GraveReaper0 wrote: 3800s are nice but if you want actual fast fast you gotta go with a V8, and a car that can hold a V8, like a BIG BLOCK 455!!!! This is a "ricer" attitude kind of comment. Only in a V8, Beer drinkin, Deer shootin kinda way!

........ Since when does it need to b a V8..a 455 at that...to go fast ........
Depends on ones definition of "fast", and the method one chooses to get there.

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ weight is a big issue for quickness ........
Not the first time this statement has been made on this site. The response has been, "I doubt you will find anyone who will argue with that".

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ a heavy ass 455 in a mid-60's to 80's tank is quick but not that quick ........
An example, or two, would go a long way toward explaining WTF you are talking about.

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ the last time read up on it the "Muscle Car Era" is kinda done ........
You are a little late. It peaked in 1970, and ended in 1974. But, was anyone talking muscle cars?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ why would somebody spend thousands of dollars on engine mods to make it burn more fuel? ........
Because it would be somebody's own car and money.

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ If I want fast ill buy a really quick European car like a Lotus ........
How fast is your Lotus, how fast is fast, how much money is involved, and what does a Lotus have to do with this thread?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ those little 4 bangers as well as the V6 European cars. Those cars are fast!! ........
And, your point?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ Having the ability to make 300+ HP out of the box without mods and would wipe the road with any moderately old 350 V8 regardless of what car is sporting it .........
Examples?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ Mate that European car with a 6Spd trans would be even better .......
In the context of this thread, How would 6 speeds be better than 4 or 5?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ why they stopped making V8's in every single car and kept them limited to cars that deserve one ........
V8s in every single car? When did that happen?

ahondadriversnightmare wrote: ........ Fuel economy is important when it becomes an investment ........
How does fuel economy relate to any investment?

For that matter, how does an "investment" have anything with the subject?
