Just seeing what everyones plans are for their oldsmobiles. My plans for my Delta 88 are to put a remote start/keyless entry in it. All new speakers, Fiberglass enclosure with a single 12" Subwoofer, and also to retint all my glass, and to maybe change out my head unit.
So what are your plans? |

| Maybe, if I get a chance, and a heated garage, I will change my water pump (been making noise for some time now), change my starter (I've have a rebuild sitting downstairs for over a year now), and generally clean it up. A year of baby in the back seat can really take it's toll on an interior! |

Another starter? Didn't you replace that a while ago?
Anyways, my entire fuel system needs replaced. Pump, sending unit, lines, etc. So, that will be a fun experience. |

Well, yes, but the starter I replaced it with was a bad rebuild. It clicks every second time I engage it. I have a warranty rebuild that should be better. Need time and ambition to install it ;-) |

Ah, that sucks. I love my new starter. Old one was just worn out after 114K. I think heat helped killed it, so I wrapped the manifold with heat wrap like in the picture below. Still need to get the rest of it. Waiting for a daily driver to come through ;)

I have some fresh Dayton Quadra P23575R15 rubber on it. I picked up a keyless entry system through Employee Sale at work for 90 bucks. My door locks are kinda finnicky. I can usually get them, but it takes a bit of struggling to get the key in correctly. My mom and my brother can't do it at all, they don't have the finesse. I figure that if it's raining or snowing or something, I won't want to spend 30 seconds standing next to the car trying to unlock it.
Other than that, no big plans. I'm going to have to be a bit more religious than normal about keeping the underbody clean, once the roads start getting salty, but that won't be for at least a month.
The heating system doesn't seem to be working fully. It won't give you any heat until the motor has been running for 15 minutes, and even then, it's not very warm, and it only comes out of the bottom vents. I've taken to keeping a pair of leather gloves on the passenger seat for cold morning commutes.
The interior is a very dark red. It's my firm belief that with the dark interior and non-tinted windows, my interior is cold-blooded. The car gets very hot in the summer. I'll go out in the mornings now and it will be freezing. By midday, it's warm. The dark fabric just holds in the sunlight, I guess.
I have a question, though - Engine block heaters?
My car is a real bitch to start during the winter. We thought that there were fuel-pump issues for awhile, but the problems only occur during the winter. It takes a LONG time to start it. Usually like 30+ seconds of running the starter, occasionally it still doesn't start and I need to let the starter cool off for a minute, then try it again. I know that can't be good for the battery or the starter.
Is there an inexpensive little device that I can bolt to the block somewhere, then plug into my house with an extension cord, to at least keep the block above freezing? |
