Since the gauge faces didn't work out, I got to thinking. I have an extra cluster shell thats just sitting around. I did some measuring and I can fit a 3 n' 1/8th inch speedometer in it. So, I was thinking I could do an entire set of gauges; speedo, tach, fuel, oil pressure, temp, etc... and have them all lit with custom LED lighting.

Question is, is this even possible with the LG3's wiring system if I were to use all electronic gauges? Turn signals and warning lights would be a pain in the butt, but I could handle it. I guess if I were to get ahold of a wiring diagram I could have a further understanding of it.

Does it seem like a cool project, or am I just wasting my time and money (gauges are expensive!)?

It's a cool idea, definately worth looking into.

But from the sounds of it you should be focusing on mechanical issues....

Heh, I got that covered.

Electronic as in instead of mechanical sending units, use the electronic sending units. :)

87, you should definately experiment with a different guage set. That would be very cool, any sort of modification is going to be a great improvement over stock. Boy that thing is ugly! ;-)

Electronic, or electric?

Analog gauges, electric sending units.

OK. Electric, not electronic. Thank you, for the clarification.

Don't you already have electronic gauges?

Since we now know you are talking electric gauges, it could not be much simpler. Just buy the parts and follow the enclosed directions.

Well, it will be a long process. Thing I noticed is the fuel gauge works on OHm's, don't know if the factory wiring has everything correct for my car. Confusing stuff

The ohms (resistance) part is essentially the same for all electric gauges.

Only if you make it so.

Ah, that makes it clearer. I like doing wiring so it should be a cool project when I get time.
