Hi folks,

My baby is an 83 Cutlass 4 door brougham with the 3.8L V6. Have owned her for a few years now and can finally afford to customize it a bit. First thing she's getting is a new vinyl top and headliner, and I have got a few quotes for a paint job. I want to keep the V6 for awhile and try to add a few more ponies untill I can afford to put something bigger in.

If anyone has had any experience boosting power on this V6 or has any ideas I would love to hear em.

Looking forward to chattin with fellow olds owners!

In Classic Olds, on the 18th, you mentioned cold air and supercharging.

Cold air, by itself, will give you little improvement.

A crank driven supercharger, in your case, would be a big headache, and a bigger expense, due to the custom fabrication involved.

An exhaust driven blower might be easier to adapt, but you would still have to pay for more prototype work than you'd like.

Either way, you'll need to rebuild the engine to handle the extra stress, then you can expect it to have a very short lifespan.

A 50HP, or so, Nitrous Oxide kit would be cheap and easy.

Most practical choice, is to use an Olds V8 in place of your present engine.

Sound familiar?

Well, nobody expects a fast V6. A V8 isn't the answer for everything. Everybody is so dang quick to come out and say "OMG, swap a V8 in it!!!" Take the GN for example, heavy car, but it has the 3.8 liter V6 in it. Turbo, of course, but with minor mods they can get in the 13's really quick.

If you would like to discuss it, the "General" forum would be the place to start your new thread.

And then you could participate in it since, apparently, you have nothing to contribute, here.

Does it, in any way, help him get more power from his V6?

No, you're the one who needs to grow up. If it isn't utmost 100% helping somebody you got to shoot them down and say some other bullcrap. You are a fucking annoyance, either or not you have good information.

No, Norm will not participate in your hijack of an active thread.

Norm will, however, point you to this thread, where, through the courtesy of GraveReaper0, the subject is being discussed.

But, you already knew about that thread, didn't you.

Thanks guys for the info. I am however keeping the V6, it's a good strong engine with only 59000 miles on her. First thing I will be doing is getting her right tuned up. (It was sitting for 2 years). After that, it'll be getting headers, and a K&N air filter. I don't need unreal power but it would be nice to get 200 hp or so, and I don't think that is at all out of the question. I would enjoy hearing any other reasonable ideas.

P.S. Norm, don't know anything about how NOS works other than the obvious(explosive gas). Do you know what it costs to put a system like that in? cost to fill the nos?
