Hey guys. As you can tell im new here . My name is Jason 23 yrs old and a college student majoring in Criminal justice. im working in private security and have an internship with the ATF starting in Febuary.

I just picked up a car last night Dec 22nd. a 1981 Olds Toronado paint has been touched up No rust whatsoever. car has 43,600 miles on it (carfax varified). it has the 307CI v8 and Power everything . also it comes with an 8 track player ( with a complimentry 8 track from oldsmobile). I had a monte carlo SS for 3 years and didnt want to get rid of it but after 175k miles and rust doing its job i had to move on and this just happened to come my way. im big into muscle cars that look good and can be nice for car shows and cruise nights and for $2500 i can not see going wrong with this car. It might not be a monte but it will be a nice show car.

does anyone know where i can get a copy of the invoice for the car ( on the monte site there was a person who could get us a copy if we needed it all we needed to do was give them the VIN. ). also anyone know the production totals for my car in 1981?

GM Heritage Center
Oldsmobile Archives
6400 Center Drive, Sterling Heights, MI 48312-2609.

For 1976 and older cars:$35 gets you a generic info package including production numbers, copies of broshures, etc.

For 1977 and newer cars $50 gets you a copy of the vehicle invoice as well as the generic info pack. Vehicle Invoice includes receiving dealer, option content, MSRP and more.

That's a lot for an 81. KBB doesnt even go to 81, but an 86 toronado with a V6 and that milage suggests $1200 in excellent condition.

So, he paid more than than you think he should have. Is that any reason to be rude to him?

I might have paid more for the same car, but I would not pretend to know its value without auditioning it, in person.

Are you in any position to dictate what I should have paid for any of my cars?

It looks like an interesting topic for a new thread. You should start it in the "Off Topic" forum.

Hi atarian,

Welcome to TOC.

I see you have met one of our three (at my last count) resident children.

Please do not judge the rest of us by what you have seen so far.

Interesting statement!............Predetermination?

Since your portraying as an "advocate" for TOC enlighten him with the knowledge of "Who" you are refering to as "Resident Children".
Or for that matter direct him to the posts in reference...and let him decide on his own!

I completely feel this was uncalled for!

..Welcome Jason! Sounds like a good looking car. Do you have pictures for others to see?

Insult? What insult, I don't see an insult, get off your meds. And if you paid 2500 for an 81 toronado, I would think twice about listening to you.

[quote="GraveReaper0"] You paid 2500 for an 81 toronado? Ouch dude. quote]

That is insulting and I was surprised when I first read it.

He didn't pay too much for that car, looks like he got it for a steal.

How about you?..You seem to take charge of the thread/s. Are you like this in REAL LIFE?...Or is it just an online persona thing you created?
