| What is the best way to reattach those side moulding strips on a car? My car's previous owner tried to solve the problem with PVC cement (and bad cement at that, IMHO). I can't stand seeing those damn mouldings holding on for dear life anymore. Any suggestions? |

| I would suggest a proper application of contact cement. I have used clear silicone in the past with emblems and badges with good success, but I am afraid the moldings are too heavy for mere silicone. |

| So whoever started doing that w/contact cement was on the right track? If that's the case, I'll take off the caked-up cement and buy some more. Thanks 88delta! |

| Contact cement is great stuff, but, PVC cement, as you suggested earlier, would have a different outcome. |

3M makes some double sided tape specifically for this type of application.

correct
remove any old glue or tape from the car, i use a earser wheel you can buy them at body shop supplier, no good method of removing old tape off body side moldings i use a razor blade and peel off the old tape
make sur eyou clean the molding off real good using laquer thinner of a wax and grease remover
reapply the tape re apply the molding
i suggest not doing a glue on moldings to big and to heavy again 3m makes a name plate glue just for name plates only |

3M stuff is excellent. I used to have an Acura Legend and I attached a trim piece to the side where the clips had broken off using a 3M adhesive and it stuck really well.
Also, if it's weatherstripping in question, 3M has an adhesive just for that which works very well. |

| What is the name of this 3M tape/adhesive that you guys are talking about? Can I get it at any auto parts store or do I have to order it from a catalog or something? I can't stand looking at that molding anymore!!! |
