| Well, since i'm bored...i figured i'd actually give you all a bit of history about myself...lol....After graduating in '89 ( yeah yeah..i know..older than dirt) i joined the service where i qualified for nuclear engineering, right before tearing my knee out and getting an honorable discharge. After coming home, i managed 2 fast food joints before getting back into cars, and went to a 2 year vo tech school for automotive technician. After graduating there, i managed 2 NAPA parts stores, a Sieg auto parts store, was a service writer in another auto repair facility, got back into auto repair before switching much of my knowledge to tires, where i was a manager of a tire department at a large facility that dealt with agricultural equipment, tractors, hardware, equipment manufacturing, and other farm related stuff. I also did tractor repair, small engine work, setup ATVS and powersports equipment, and sales. After being there for several years, getting married and having kids, i decided i wanted something closer to home, so i took my current job 3 years ago this month. Currently i am general manager of a 7 bay repair shop, the largest independent shop in a town of over 5,000 people, where we do auto and light truck repair, new and used tires, agricultural and off the road tires, and a little bit of everything else. We have 11 employees, and are open 6 days a week. Much of my time is spent in sales, along with repair and tire servicing, so i pretty much cover everything. We normally run 3 tire service trucks when its busy, that cover roadside flats, and farm and OTR tire replacement and servicing. We also run a commercial snowplowing business, which does basically every large business in town, as well as most residential driveways. We run 2 fullsize dump trucks, 2 skid steers with plows, snowblowers, or brushes, and about 11 pickups and blazers. We also own a street sweeper thats used to sweep the local Wal Mart as well as some other businesses in town. A few years ago, i went to Louisville, Ky where i became a certified instructor in commercial tire servicing ( semi and medium duty trucks). I'm also certified in A/C recovery and recycling. So as you can see, my knowledge is pretty well rounded...lol I've been involved in cars all my life, had the fastest car in school ( 76 Olds Delta 88 2 door), as well as 3 Trans Ams( 77 smokey and the bandit edition 4 speed car with t tops, 78 with a built 400, and a 79 with a 350), a 71 Z-28, 6 AMC Javelins, a 69 GTO Judge, 2 lowered S-10s(a 91 with a 5/6 drop, 16" wheels, 6" cowl induction hood, visor, rollpan, and SBC powered, and an 85 extended cab, 5/6 drop, rollpan, visor, snugtop topper with smooth sides and a full walkthru conversion), 2 lifted 4x4s (76 F150 390 4 speed, 9" lift with 36.5's and a 84 chevy stepside, 350 4 speed,9" lift with 35's, cowl hood, rollbar, visor, etc), a 79 cutlass calais, a 70 cutlass SX 455 (one of only 1100 built), a 72 pontiac ventura with a 455 HO, 89 taurus SHO, 88 mustang lx ragtop with a built 5.0 5 speed, 70 Grand Prix SJ, 67 firebird, 71 chevy short wheelbase van, complete with bar, bed, 350 4 speed and 12 bolt posi... 70's custom, built 82 Regal, 79 Buick Lesabre sport coupe with a 3.8 Liter turbocharged V6, 72 buick electra 225 with a 455, as well as a TON more that i cant think of at the moment. At one time i sat down and tried compiling a list, and after about 3 notebook pages i gave up...lol Currently i have my 72 Cutlass race car and the 70 Vista for a cruiser, and am dealing on a 73 442. So there you have it in a nutshell...lol |

ohh yeah Brando..MANY more not listed...lol...lets see...small block powered 73 vega wagon, 83 eagle SX4 4x4 with about $5000 of stereo equipment, 86 daytona turbo Z, 89 Lebaron GTC turbo, lowered 85 S-10 2wd blazer, 81 Honda CB750F super sport, 84 Honda Nighthawk 700, 74 Honda CB750 chopper, 74 Yamaha 650 2 cylinder, plus numerous daily driver/ winter beaters, and more others that i cant think of right now...lol
THe cutlass SX was only built 2 years, 70 and 71..basically it was a 2 barrel 442 with a supreme body, vs. the coupe body like the 442 had. Same suspension, same other options available, but with a 2 barrel, slightly recammed 455, rather than the 4 barrel hot 455 that the 442 came with...with the exception of a few early 70's, which were classified as W 32 cars....between 100 and 1000 W32 4 barrel cars were built, noone knows EXACTLY how many..the one i had had every available additional option.....mine had buckets, dual gate with console, sport wheel, rallye gauges, power trunk, tinted glass, power disc brakes with manual steering
mine looked EXTREMELY similar to this one...
http://silverstone.fortunecity.com/oldsmobile/442/71wendle.html
with the exception that mine was a 70 and not a 71, had Centerline billet stars on all 4 corners, a 5" street scoop out thru the hood, a built 425 and was a darker blue....
machismo, huh? heeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyy vatooooooooooo....wassssappininnnn???? 8) 8) |
