I love those units with the multi-color backlighting. Especially the ones that you can set to contantly changing colors. Those are sweet!!!
The buttons on my stereo can change colors from green to red, which I thought was pretty cool when I bought it. |

have you heard about the new factory decks in brand new vehicles? A guy at my work tried to replace his with a sony deck of some sort (thank god they started making stuff that isnt xplode). Anyways, he bought this 400 dollar deck and had them install it, and they told him he couldnt because the airbag controller, door chime module and a few other things were located inside the factory head unit.
They said he had to relocate the factory unit to another location inside his vehicle!!! I cant beleive they would do something so stupid as to put important stuff in a stereo they KNOW people will want to replace. GM... Smarten up!!! |

| mp3 decks are CHEAP these days... Its almost unreal. 6 years ago, when I bought my first car and was looking for a cd player for it, it was really really hard to find anything for under 250. (canadian) . Now I can go out to a store and look at 150 dollar price tags and think "I could find cheaper". |

| Well just think about the company were talking about! All older GM cars that I have seen, my Olds, my dads old Pontiac, my pals Corvette, my friends moms Monte Carlo all have had some sort of problem related to the electronics, so I guess they just can do proper electronics after 96 years! |

Yea...it's true...I dunno why they did it, but it's really not too much of a pain in the ass. They have kits that provide the wire harness and all to relocate so it's not too bad...but it does mean more money for the shops if you don't do it yourself. Maybe that's why GM did it? :?

| I know this is an old topic but there are a lot of new members here, i replaced my stock radio with the same model from an 86 Buick Electra (exactly the same). For an old radio i think it sounds good, but Im not into the fancy stuff and it keeps the car stock. |

| stock radios are very reliable.... if i had a newer car with a relativly modern am/fm/cd player with a couple pre amps, i could rock it stock... but listening to the delco in my '84 for the first time was probably the most horrifying, disgusting thing i have ever heard come from four speakers. Not to mention its about the size of a toaster. |
