I am a new member and have spent some time reviewing various posts. It seems like there are lots of old pros ready to share their expertise and I can sure use some help.

I've been searching the websites of local salvage yards for fenders, quarters, grilles, etc. for a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with no luck. Do any members know of good websites where you can search on a broader scale for used parts?

What has been your experience with buying new, reproduction panels? Are there any companies with better quality or better value than others? I've looked at Year One, Brothers Automotive Products, and Goodmark Industries and all seem comparable in price. Are the reproduction panels the same thickness as OEM? I've also found it difficult to find metal replacement hoods. Most sights have fiberglass. Any suggestions?

On another note, are there any MN OLDS CLUB members out there? I see that you have had Spring Dust-off Cruises in the past. Is there one planned for this year?

Year One has an excellent reputation. Don't know much about Goodmark.

Here are a couple to keep in mind for future use.

Howdy,
In minnesota. Just south of St. Cloud in Annandale There is French Lake Auto Salvage/Parts with acre's of old cars. Last time i was there they had around 15+ 1970-1972 Cutlass/442 model cars there. They pick up from Az, and other southern states. Its better to Email or Call them cause they dont have all the parts inventoried. They should have the parts you need.

They should have the parts you need. Also in Fairfax, MN its located south by New Ulm there a Salvage yard you could possably get a donor car.

Let me know how it goes. I have many other places in MN that you could maybe find what you need.

I'll Joining the MN Olds Club when i return stateside.

Good Luck, Casey

Norm and Casey,

Thanks for the tips. I will certainly check them out. My boys are out of school for Spring Break next week, so maybe I'll take them to the salvage yards with me. I'm only a few minutes from Annandale.

Casey, are you overseas in the armed forces? If so, where are you stationed?

Can't really say where but i'm here with the minnesota brigade. www.redbullweb.com.

I hope you find everything your looking for. I know when you walk out the back door and straight down the hill about 150-200 meters theres a white 70 442 with good good parts.

Good Luck Casey
