I saw that too, they put it up like a year ago. Isnt it nice that GM marketing was able to cover up the truth about how they screwed Olds?

Coverups... I love coverups. I wonder though, who would buy a car from any manufacturer if the public knew everything that went on behind the closed doors of management

What I was told through a friend of someone who owns a Oldsmobile dealer is that GM didn't keep Olds because the money it would have by killing Olds will go to Saturn and they plan on keeping customers by moven them to Buick(how true this is I dont know). History will show that Oldsmobile sales have fallen every year since 1987 and when GM told the world of Olds future, Olds sales were down to 200,000 cars a year ( about 1/2 of Buick sales). They never gave the new Aroura or Bravada a chance!

Yea...the Bravada and Aurora are pretty nice....275 hp and 275 lb-ft on the stock Bravada ain't bad at all....I'm surprised that they already stopped the Aurora? WTF....that was one of their best newercars....gone...all gone...I thought they would stop producing that last...just shows the intelligence of GM.

Especially on the power steering recall, I forgot to highlight in my post that the NHTSA had actually talked to GM a month ago before this recall about the power steering, and they said all the cars with this defect have been fixed.....now, January 2004, GM has a recall on the power steering...

Mixed Management? Most Likely...
Stupidity? Maybe....GM is starting to show its true colors....
A little bit of both.....? Seems to be...and there are probably a bunch of other things that factor into these dumb decisions, I can understand GM closing Oldsmobile because they weren't gaining much money....but didn't it seem that they started to just STOP Oldsmobile commercials during the early 90's? I used to watch a lot of tv back then....when I was a little youngin' watchin the tube....and I don't recall Oldsmobile commercials....I do recall the Pontiac commercials though...hmmm...

What GM did was they wanted to cut cost and add to profits, and Oldsmobile was its weakest pray. I think that Olds was on the rebound with all the new products and those 2 great engines (3.5 V6 and 4.0 V8) which could have really given the division a boost. Also the cars were given very little in style. And then there is that ever present problem of GM quality control, which has done little in the last 15-20 years in terms of improven quality to tha of Toyota or Honda standards.
And there is my issue with GM for killing the 98, 88, Cutlass, and Cutlass Supreme. They could have done some great things with those names, and to me they will always be the last of the true Oldsmobiles.

what was the last full frame Olds? I think they kept building the full size delta 88 into the late 80's... but I'm not sure.

and you're not now? :P

ohhhh, you're a BIG youngun now, Brando :D hehehe

16 sucked, but trust me, 32 AINT a whole lot better!!! Enjoy it while it lasts, bro, cause it DOESN'T last long!!! Along with age comes alot of responsibilities, bills, and other B.S, but somehow I've made it this far and still come out with 3 classic cars, 2 other cars, a shitload of tools, a family, and pretty much everything I own is free and clear, so I guess I can't really complain...and trust me...I still have my fun every now and then

Now all I have to look forward to is that nice view at the top of the hill  , just before I start to roll down it at i beleive the common number given is 40... But not positive. Thats ok... I dont complain.

I guess I can look forward to 24, when my insurance will start to lower...

Hey 73delta... Full frame delta 88's ceased production in 1985, to make way for the newer style in 1986, much like my car... But I think cutlasses (ones that look like monte carlos, not cierra) still made a full frame in 1987 at least... Maybe longer!

Stroker, besides the obvious differences, what benefits besides weight reduction, does making a unibody have over the good old body on frame?

I would tend to think that unibodies would be a hell of a lot weaker in the long run...
