as for the alky subject......no it dosent hurt your internals at all or affect gaskets but thats with a denatured alk./water mix if you were to use methanol/water mix it cause corrosion on the internals

It sounds better than a ricer, but it does lead one to assume your car leans more toward the raspy-high RPM stuff, but It could completely be camera's fault.

To get the topic back on track;
Ras, I don't know what to do or say other than show you the clip of my car with a flowmaster on it, and tell you that mine has the 260ci V8.

Each car sounds different, however this isn't an expensive, or labor intensive modification, mine cost about $120 with shipping, and took about 15 minutes to install.

i just started this whole car thing. im pretty much new to everything.

in retrospect, if i look back to the beginning of the summer, the first thing i wanted to do was swap my v6 for a v8. im just happy i was able to figure out all the audio shenanigans (knock on wood: installing tomorrow)

im going back to school in 2 weeks and i prob wont be able to maintain a good source of income to pay for gas and any customizations. Depending on how much time/money i have in the next few months, maybe i can do it by xmas break.

my bro was tryin to explain some stuff to me and said something about how flowmasters arent straight enough to add performance? or something? compared to other exhaust like magnaflow, whats the difference between the two?

He is only partially right.

All mufflers use some sort of "baffle" to control volume, by restricting exhaust flow.

Performance versions can increase flow over factory mufflers, with different designs, but at an increased sound level. How much trade off one chooses, depends whether sound or power gain is the higher priority.

There is nothing in either site, that gives me anything to work with.

When compared to their actual competition, dynamometer comparisons have shown Flowmasters to be in the middle of the group. They do have a distinctive sound that seems to be popular in some cultures.

I know nothing about Magnaflow.

Bottom line: Take the advice you were given in the first two replies.

I wouldn't be worried about gaskets. I would be worried about washing the cylinders more than anything else. I would be curious to see a tear down of that engine, and see what the bore and valve stem/guide measurements are in comparision to "normal wear".

How long have you done this?

around 7-8 months, as for washing the cylinders the mist of the alky/water mixture is very fine,so that wouldnt be a isssue. i only spray when i im at WOT when im going on to the highway and such.
