Well, the olds has been sitting MIA now since mid-december. I hate just letting her sit there, collecting dust, and generally deteriorating. I have no use for it at this time, because I dont need to insure and drive 2 cars.

I was hoping my significant other would get her license, and start driving it, but as in the past, she has made it clear that she has no intention of driving anytime soon - shes too nervous about the whole thing... I can respect that, but its also frustrating.

Anyways, what do you guys think I should do? Get rid of the car while it still is in great shape? Store the car for an emergency (or a miracle if she gets her license!)? Its not worth all that much as far as book value goes.

Its such a dilemma for me, since I love that car, and have a MAJOR time/cash investment into the sound system. Everytime I go out and start her up to get the juices flowing again, I turn the stereo on and think DAMN, that sounds good! I cant / dont want to remove the stereo even if I sell it. Its taking up space that I could definately use for something else.

Keep it!!! It would be sin to sell an Oldsmobile. What if you don't sell it to an Oldsmobile lover and they trash it?

Well I never used my Delta much since I moved, it just leaked sitting up in the garage for a couple of months. I sold it and regret it. You might regret it someday if you sell it. Although if you don't have the room I can understand.

Good point. I remember my beloved first car, the girl I sold it to crashed it 2 weeks later, and thought it was funny. I sure didnt...

Yeah... I know I'll regret selling it, if I do. It just worries me whenever I look at it sitting there, its not doing what it was meant to do - drive!

Yes, but at least you know you can always take it for a drive if you ever get that feeling, where as if you sell it, you'll never be able to even look at it again.

And if you keep it you know how it will get treated. Also, just think of the miles you are keeping off of it. :D

I'm with the "keep it if you can" camp... I ended up trading my 98 to my friend's mom for a big van to tow my boat.... and she's destroying it... it pains me to hear about it! I feel like I've let the old girl down.. if I had been able to keep the car, I would have! I miss it!

think whats best in the long run i understand the emotional attachment but as a man you got do what you got to do. Cut youre losses and in the future when the time comes and you can afford it go get another one bigger and badder. The car lives on in you not it the driveway dormant :P

This is the worst advise ever. It will be cheaper in the long run to keep your current car and not having to hope you can find one in the shape you are looking for when you decide you want another one. I will NEVER sell my Olds!! It's just not something that will happen.

I wouldn't sell mine, unless I was really in a bad way.

It is beginning to nickel and dime me to death, being it was stored from 1980 to late 2006, with tires, ignition cables, rotor, plugs, distributor, a muffler (well, I wanted that :D ) wires, shocks, and the headliner is held up with about 45 safety pins, major bombs to my efforts on repairing it was the $800 balljoint job. D:

I really want to keep this car, and I will keep this car.

I've never had a vehicle that started up so consistently, and reliably until I got an Olds. It's got angular body lines, it has a style, not like those jellybean things they call cars today.

Eat it, imports!

I will keep her for the time being. Make frequent visits out to run it, and crank up the stereo for my neighbors.

I'm thinking about some fuel stabilizer, since its been sitting since december with the same gas. I know all too well what bad gas smells like, and I really dont want that crap in my gas tank. Anyone used stabilizer before?
