I just purchased a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue.

The car was sold labeled as a Sterling Package Edition, how can I verify that it is a legit package?

Basically I am unable to find any information on the Oldsmobile custom packages for each year and can't find any evidence of a Sterling package for the 2000 year model. I can for the 2002 model, but not for the 2000.

Could someone help me out here.

I bought the car because I missed my 72 Cutlass Supreme so bad and wife always promised me I could buy myself another Olds someday. My 72 was a special edition as well as it had the 350 rocket, 4 bbrl carb, yet only single exhaust, but I loved that car more than any car I have owned to date.

Thanks for any info on my Intrigue.

Ok, well I didn't buy the car. I rejected it after driving it today and finding that it had to have been previously wrecked. So I took the car back and got my money back.

I found evidense of paint work, and evidense that the passenger side air bag had been deployed.

Then while driving it the steering felt funny to me. The car drove straight, had power, and was smooth, but everytime I hit the tinyest bump in the road the steering column would rattle inside the firewall/engine area.

Is that common for those year Intrigues? If so I won't look at another one.

Boy I really miss my Olds :( . I wanted so bad to like the 2000 Intrigue, but after the guy didn't disclose any of that to me at purchase and Carfax not disclosing any information about a previous accident, I didn't feel safe driving the car with my family in it which is what I would have been doing.

What to do, I want another Olds really bad, but I don't want one that is going to tarnish my feelings towards Oldsmobile, ya know? My 72' Cutlass Supreme was the nicest ride I have ever owned. I felt like I was driving the best car ever made when I drove it.

I wish I knew who had it now, I'd be willing to pay dbl what I sold it to him for just to get it back. Sigh.....

Hindsight... ;-) We've all felt that about a certain car in our lives.

Sorry you had such a negative experience with the Intrigue. As far as I know, there are no prone steering problems with them. Boss' wife has one, and I've driven it quite a bit. Feels nice and tight, loads of power etc... I wouldnt hesitate to look for another one.

I know of a few Intrigue owners on the site, they should be stepping in soon to verify the car's reliability. ;-)

That is what I figured. I thought to myself, boy this steering feels loose, rattling, etc. I figured for basically being a new version of the Cutlass Supreme that it would have superior steering like they were known for.

At one point Oldsmobile had the best turning radius in the car industry and were known for their luxious smooth steering and handling.

I hope to find a new Olds soon. I really want an Aurora though, but they may be out of my price range as I don't want one older than 2002.
