| The S was the cheep model, and the SL was the more $ one. The SL took the place of the Brougham after the 1988 model year, and the base model became the S. The S was used until 1995, and the SL until production ended. The Cutlass Cruiser wagon was only in the SL trim. Hope I was able to :help: |

My guess is Sedan Luxury after looking at 73Delta88's most excellent guess.
I like Slick Labia myself... |

hmmm, well maybe it could mean the same as "Sierra" which is pronounced the same, but spelled differently, Sierra has a few definitions....
1. mountains: a range of mountains with jagged peaks, or the country surrounding such a range
2. Spanish mackerel: a large Spanish mackerel valued as game fish and for food
also I realized this, while looking it up in the dictionary:
Si·er·ra
code word for letter “S”: a code word for the letter “S,” used in international radio communications
I thought this was interesting because as you know, there was a Cutlass "S" maybe there's a connection there  or am I reading into it a little too deep  |

Oh..and here the "urban" definition for Delta:
marijuana, ganja, reefer, weed, mary jane, pot, trees, herb, grass, aunt mary, etc. Deriving from the THC(delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol) from marijuana.
also used as delta-9
Example:
Ima hit my delta right hurr.
Take a hit of this delta-9.
Who woulda thought a Delta 88 was named for smoking ganja?
