greetings from another newbie
managed to find myself a deserted and forgotten shell of an olds, from what i can gather its a 52 super rocket 88, missing lots of parts but will make a great project for the family to resto together
is there somewhere i can go with the model and serial etc from the body to find out what i'm supposed to have ? the engine is long gone, i found the thing in a farmer's field. luckily most of the chrome is still here, missing the rear bumper though.
how hard will it be to find resto parts for this thing if we want to bring it back to its former glory ?
any help is greatly appreciated - i'll be pouring through the boards when i get a chance. |

Hi oldsgrl,
Welcome to TOC.
Quote: ........ its a 52 super rocket 88 ........
Rocket has nothing to do with the car. The term applied only to Olds V8 engines from '49 to '90. For anything other than advertising, it was/is useless.
A '52 would be an 88, Super 88, or 98.
All three had 303 cu in V8 engines. 88 (145 HP) had 2 bbl carbs. Super 88 and 98 (160 HP) were 4 bbl.

Post it here.

Not as easy as if you had a "belly button" car, but with patience they can be found.
You can download a catalog from Fusick to get started. He sells a repro '52 Factory Service Manual for $60 USD. Best investment you could make.
Classic Oldsmobile was an excellent resource for early stuff until a week or two ago. I hope, when/if the server gets back up it doesn't/hasn't changed.
Regards, Norm |

Yes. I posted in this one before I knew about the other.
Best to let this one die. |
