Hi, I'm completely new to Oldsmobile and the abbreviations, but I have the exact same problem: the bucking engine at operating temperature, in all gears, at pretty much every rpm.

Now, where can I find this MAF-sensof on the car?

[edit] I take it you guys mean the Mass AirFlow sensor? If so, I've foud that sensor in my Haynes repair manual..

Welcome to TOC

Start at post #8 on the first page to learn how to test your coil pack.

MAF was not the source of his problem.

The thread hijack by 91buickman (91parkave) is what caused your confusion.

hi myfathersoldsmobile i had a similar problem with my 94 88 it was missing and jerking around , more so when under load such as up hills and accelerating. i thought it was tranny or torque connvereter so i took it in to my tranny buddy and it turned out to be bad spark plug wires. you should maybe check those out, just another idea for you. good luck. obiwann

Well, my father's Oldsmobile has breathed it's last breath at 190 K. There is low oil pressure and it sounds like a gravel blender . The dipstick smokes when it's pulled out. I did purchase an aftermarket intake from ZZ performance and the good aluminum lower gaskets from GM, but I didn't have time to install them, so if anyone needs these PM me and you'll get a good deal.
I will be getting a '99 Alero to replace the 88, so I need to see if any parts are interchangable before the 88 leaves for the boneyard.
If anyone needs parts from the 88 let me know.
