|
|
Hi all-
My Grandpa from my Mom's side passed on Friday- he was 70, and was going to have an appendectomy, and in pre-op he went into cardiac arrest- There was a cardiologist there, but there was nothing they could do- He always had heart problems, so I guess his "number" was up.
It's been rough on my family- other than the heart problems, he was in excellent health, and he was sort of the families foundation. This is the Grandpa that I mention a lot in my replies that I apprenticed for when I was younger, and he was really a surrogate father to me, as I lost my dad when I was a small child. He taught me many things, and was always there for me- I am very grateful that I had the time and closeness with him that I did, but that is also why it's painful. The only bright side is that all my family is home, and it is always good to see the ones that live far away-
He was the type of guy that wouldn't have wanted to wither away in a nursing home, so I know that it is better he went this way, but even though he lived for a fairly long time, it was still too soon, as none of us were ready. I don't think you are ever ready for something like this, but to have him gone in an instant like that is very sad. I think we knew that medical technology had given us years with him we wouldn't have otherwise had, but nonetheless, it still sucks.
He was also always the one to take care of things when we were in times like these, but now that has sort of fallen to me, which is eerie in a way, but I take after him in many ways, and I guess this is another-
He will be dearly missed.
I don't usually go into my personal life here, but I needed an outlet- Hope you guys don't mind-
Take care all,
Andrew |

Sorry to hear about the loss Andrew, my condolences to you and your family.
Sounds much like my Grandpa was, whom we lost this past June to Alzheimer's.

Thanks for the words all-
Cherish the time you can with loved ones- Time is too scarce, and life is too short-
