So I was thinking of changing my standard dial type dashboard with a digital one, my friend has one out of the exact same car as mine... I know I would need to change the coolant temperature sensor... is there anything else I would need to do to make it work? thanks for any input

I seriously doubt a plug and play possibility with your application, Youll have to do alot of wiring...possibly, But Worth it if your set on fancy digital gauges. Best of luck to you though if you carry out the project

Since digital gauges are an option on the car, and the car is the same model, the wiring should plug in somewhere in the harness. I could be wrong, but I would put my money on the main harness being close to the same, if not the same for both cars, you just need to find where it is supposed to plug in at. You will probably need the wiring harness from your friends car that goes from the gauges to the rest of the harness, as well as any sensors/sending units that are different. Does your car just have warning lights?

The best bet is to get a wiring diagram, or an ALLDATA procedure for the install.

Norm Unless, for example, you are going from idiot lights to rallye pak as in the 70-72 (and I believe the later model) Cutlass. There CAN be wiring differences!

Wow thanks a lot. What a relief knowing the main harness is the same, just got to change a few sensors and im going to have a digital dash! haha I'm so excited. I think I'm going to put a chain steering wheel in my car next!

The digital dash is from a 1994? My info only shows the digital dash available for the 1988-1993 Cutlass Supreme.

My guess is it will not be plug and play, but I can't say for sure right now.

The 1994 has the VIN M 3.1L, while the 1993 looks like a transition period, they had either the VIN T or the VIN M 3.1L. Either way it looks like both had the digital dash during that year....now to see if I can compare the connectors...

Not too sure about those years now...one shows 1988-1993, the other only shows 1993 having the digital dash... :confused: It looks like the 1988-1993 is correct, doing a google search.

The wiring diagrams do look similar....best would be to actually take a look at it in the car.

Nothing wrong with warning lights.

Gauges impress, at a Cruise/show, but in case of a problem, that flashing light will attract my attention. A gauge is only useful if I happen to be looking at it, at that particular time.

Not surprising. If the Rallye Pak was rare enough, it would be an exception, and your installation would have been very unlike one that was done on the assembly line.

Were the gauges in the same location as the corresponding lights, and what percentage of '71s came off the line with that setup?
