| i have a 85 toronado right now. it has the same engine as my 82 delta 88 but my delta had more power. when i floor it with my toronado its about the same as if i give it like half throttle. my 82 had a little kick to it. have any sugestions. the oil hasnt been changed in like 7 months..i bought the car like 3 weeks ago and didnt have time to change it. i better do that soon or i could be looking at some damage. the last owner had the car in storage. would i have any improvement with maybe some better plugs and wires? |

| always start with the maintnence then proceed with your " pick up " issue my advice would be to start with making sure your timing is on point and then check the carb to make sure its working like it should probably better off getting a new one or having the current one rebuilt. |

You would probably benefit greatly from a factory service manual (FSM).
After you do a basic tuneup (oil change, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, setting the choke, etc) let us know if the condition still exists.
I wouldn't just go and put a new carb on your car unless you are sure it needs to be replaced. In order to know that, you first must understand how it works, and the FSM mentioned should help you with that. |

| i usually get the haynes manual for cars i owned. helps me out a ton and i think ive learned a ton from it. i didnt want to get the oldsmobile one because it covered a ton of cars and years but i bet all the engines were the same. yeah im hoping a simple tuneup will help me. ill have my brother look at the carb also. he has worked with them and i havent. |

I have had both haynes and OEM manuals, and the OEM manual has been worth twice what I paid for it. They will usually run more than the haynes, but they offer much more information, and will be application specific.
You might want to double check, but I think this will be what you need.
