Ok guys... I have an 86 plymouth horizon that I've had for over a year now, and I never use it. There isnt a whole lot wrong with it mechanical wise, but its an eyesore, and its only worth maybe 500 bux anyways.

QUESTION:

I wanna have some fun with it. Cheap fun, but fun nonetheless. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO IT??!!! I want to remove all the springs, and cut them down so it basically drags on the ground. I was also thinking of turning it into a convertible, but dont know how to strengthen the frame (its a unibody).

I'll likely paint it cheaply... This is more like a "have fun and learn, but dont worry if you really screw it up" project.

I've always wanted to do this to a car, and now I'm going to! I know you guys all have great ideas on this sort of thing, can I please hear em???!!

i say fire up the Sawzall and make it a convertible, don't worry about strengthening the body, just don't open the doors and you will be fine. and then mask off some flames on the nose and paint it with a spray can.

and if the middle of the car does sag to the ground one day, take off the plates and walk home.

LOL
I know someone who actually did that to his car, it started to sag after he cut the top off it. Then it started to expand out and it eventually snaped in too. It was an intersting site to see

damn, too bad it's not a full frame car.... because I'd say DEMO DERBY!!

if it were me id try to make some jumps and launch it like the General Lee  I used to do that with my ol' Jeep.... fun times.

screw lowering it.... cut the fenders out, put some big tires on it and take it out "Tree Bashin" in the woods!

thats a good idea 73, i didn't think about jumping it. there is a nice set of railroad tracks around here, there are ruts in the pavement around 15 feet away from them from people landing. after all is said and done and the car is dead, you can have a Newark NJ style bon fire.

Good Ideas!!! I want to practice some with painting... so I'll definately have some fun painting at least, before I wreck it. Jumping sounds like a hell of a lot of fun, and I can think of about 10 places to grab some air around here too!

Flame job is #1 on my list... That sounds great!

Sawzall is sounding more appealing bit by bit... But then it wouldnt hold together reliably enough to jump it! AHH! Now you guys have me in a bit of a dilemma - what to do with it!!!!

that reminds me of a story my dad told me. He was following a motorcycle one day in his 72 cutlass one day and saw some tracks up ahead and the guy on the bike sped up and so did he. He ended up flying off the tracks and busting his motor mounts. He didn't know the road dropped off there! He luckily made it home w/ his fan chopping away at his hood!

I think this weekend, I'm going to unbury the horizon, and try to fire her up... I wonder if the battery will be frozen, or if the fuel will be rotton.

The weird and wonderful workshop will soon give birth to its first real creation!!!

We will need a name for this car once done, and I will post pictures of my surgery along the way if anyone is interested...

Definately still open to new ideas and such...

Is this a small hatchback type car???
If so, it would be great to make it an SPL car, you could compete!
Get a big ass alternator....build a wall of 4 nice 12" subs....get a couple big ass amps.....and fire away!
