| I have an 88 Cutlass Supreme SL and recently someone ran into/backed into the right front end when it was parked and took off. The subframe, control arm, strut, and tie rod were all bent or heavily damaged and have since been replaced. I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the tie rod completely attached. It's in place but there's a metal sleeve goes over the tie rods connection to the gear box arm, I can't seem to force it back into place or figure out how I can get it back on. Any help would be much appreciated. |

If you're talking about the tie rod adjusting sleeve, it threads onto both the inner and outer tie rod ends to join them together...this is where you get your toe in/toe out adjustments.
Normally there are 2 clamps which tighten down to prevent movement....you simply loosen those 2 clamps, then turn the sleeve in or out accordingly. Your outer tie rod end should thread into the sleeve....if it doesn't, the sleeve and related parts should be replaced. |
