| ok, wanting to change my 2.8 v6 to a new 3800 III SC. and info on all that is needed for this swap please let me know, trying to get the info befor i start. |

Hi Medz,
Welcome to TOC.
Except for the computer interface, it would be a fairly simple conversion. Series III is "drive by wire" and would be more complicated than an S-II.
What is your budget/experience/skill levels, and do you have the tools/space, needed for such a project?

| well i don't have that much, and i don't want to spend all the money i make. but if i have to get an older engine and rebuild it that fine, skill wise, not that great. got plenty of time and the internet, so i think if i keep my cool it will get done, and a few friends who have a lot of skill. and tools, well i will get what i need. this is goin to get my crash course, so to say. i have friends that can do it for me, but i want to learn all i can about cars, don't have money or time for school. so i will just jump into something with a car that wouldn't be put me in the hole. but i love this car so i will go at this until it works, oh yea i have an 89 oldsmobile cutlass ciera. it was giving to me about a year and a half ago. but if you had any advice or insight for this task i would love to hear it. |

Understood.
From what I see, so far, you'd be far better off buying a car that fits your needs, rather than trying to make yours into something it's not, and never will be.
Having said that: First, check the prices, and availability, of the engine/trans combination, computer, and all related sensors, wiring looms, engine mounts, hoses, belts etc, that you'd like to use.

Trust me: If those "friends" actually had the skill, and the tools, you would already be doing it, instead joining a message board to ask how.

| well my friends have done engine swaps before, but mainly its goin to be me doing it. i don't want someone to do it for me, just to help out if i need it. but thanks for all the "adivce" |

| All I can offer is make sure you have something else to drive while the cutlass is down, as it could be immobile for longer than you expect. |
