|
|
I'm looking to install 2x 6.5" coax speakers in the back seat of my 01 Intrigue. They would fit perfectly on top of one another if I could remove the armrest.
I spent about 1 hour in a frigid garage trying to remove them myself, then another 2 hours googling with no luck.
The surround around the armrest (which is built into the seat) is plastic but the armrest itself is mounted to a metal plate on both sides on which it is 'hinged'. It operates in a 90 degree arc, where it can either fold back into the seat or swing down to act as an armrest, splitting the back seat.
It's attached to the metal plate by bolts with a #3 phillips head on them then two other headless bolts which follow a 90 degree arc cut out of the metal as a guide. I can access the phillips head bolts...but I cannot loosen them. I'm sure if I can get those bolts out I can jimmy the armrest out.
I do not want to take apart the seat (aka rip up the back carpeting) nor do I want to have to Dremel out the bolts (and possibly accidentally cut up the seat etc). I would also like to be able to put the armrest back in if I so choose.
So...does anyone know how to remove the armrest from the front?
I can provide pictures if needed.
Thanks in advance. |
