I believe part of my "express down module" circuit is inoperable, and it is the root cause of why my 1993 Cutlass Ciera S has all power accessories working fine except the front driver side window.

I found what I believe is the module, it has four wires entering it and it is mounted to the brake pedal support bracketry directly next to the parking brake pedal. It looks like it is captive by a slid-locking barbed stud that protrudes from the case.

I am getting full voltage at the switch and it works, no voltage at the motor connector. I am getting continuity for all of the wires passing between the connector for the express down and the motor connector, and the express down and the window switch.

If any of that makes sense and is even relevant; here's my question!

Would someone with a wiring diagram tell me if there is supposed to be any break in continuity between the motor's connector and the connector for the express down module? Any fusible link or anything? Particularly on the brown wire with white stripe?

Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

I've got a manual sitting at home; 150 miles from here. I was hoping someone could just look or link to an online diagram. I really just need to know if there are any connections or components between the driver's window motor connector and the express down module connector. I don't believe there are supposed to be, and I think the incontinuity in the brown/white wire is the problem.

Worst case I have to wait until this weekend, but I really want to get this done if I can.

Here we go... This is a link to a F-body diagram. They use the same part number for the express down module as far as I can find, so I think this is representative. Looks like a have a broken wire somepoint between the module and the motor. Nuts.

If this isn't representative please let me know!

Quote: SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS

Left Front Window Does Not Operate

Go to TEST 2 under TESTING.

TEST 2

1. With ignition switch in RUN position, connect a test light between master switch Dark Blue wire
connector terminal and Brown wire connector terminal (Brown/White on models with power window
control module). Press master switch left window switch upward then downward.

2. If light does not comes on in both directions, replace master switch. If light comes on in both directions,
on models with control module, go to step 3). On models without control module, check for open in Dark
Blue and Brown wires between master switch and left front window motor. If wires are okay, replace
motor.

3. Disconnect power window control module connector. Connect test light between master switch Pink wire
connector terminal and ground. If light comes on, go to step 4). If light does not come on, repair open in
Pink wire between master switch and PWR WDO circuit breaker (in fuse block).

4. Connect test light between master switch Brown/White wire connector terminal and ground. Press left
front window switch down. If light comes on, go to step 5). If light does not come on, repair open in
Brown/White wire between master switch and power window control module.

5. Connect test light between master switch Dark Blue wire connector terminal and ground. Press left front
window switch up. If light comes on, go to step 6). If light does not come on, repair open in Dark Blue
wire between master switch and power window control module.

6. Reconnect power window control module. Disconnect left front power window motor electrical
connector. Connect test light between motor wire harness Brown wire connector terminal and ground.
Press left front window switch down. If light comes on, go to step 7). If light does not come on, check for
open in Brown wire between power window control module and motor. If wire is okay, replace power
window control module.

7. Connect test light between motor wire harness Dark Blue wire connector terminal and ground. Press left
front window switch up. If light comes on, replace left front power window motor. If light does not come

This was the one. I took one of the parallel taps (one of those little blue ones they give you with things like trailer light kits) and connected the brown wire to the brown/white wire. I've bypassed the express down feature, but it works perfectly otherwise. All of the loose ends are safely tied up now and it's definitely good enough for my cheap old daily driver :)

Thanks much!!!
