morning guys.its been brought to my attention that an olds 350 could not fit in an 85 delta 88 royae coupe if it came with a factory 307? That sound kinda weird and I wanted to make sure Iwasnt losin my mind.

The person that told you that is not the person you want working on your car.

There isn't a physical difference in size between the 307 and the 350. Actually, all the small blocks (330-403) are pretty well the same size. The big block (400-455) will fit too, and I believe it is only a half inch taller or so.


What they may have been referring to is running the 350 on the computer. You should be able to take a stock 350, and run it just fine on the computer. It has been done many times. You will have to use the distributor out of the 307 as well as the carb. The alternative is not using the computer which will leave the check engine light on. However, I wouldn't do this if you have to pass smog tests.

Your "source" is mistaken. 260, 307, 330, 350, and 403, share the same external dimensions and mounting hole locations.

Just make sure you use the 350 exhaust manifolds, and 307 carb, distributor, and all other related emissions equipment.

thats wat i thought,no he actually knows car rather well,i think wat he thought i was tryin to do iz put a chevy 350 in. any way,i live in maryland and i was told that i didnt need the smog pump cause i dont have to go thru inspection or emissions sence i have it tagged as an historic?
