trying to find out what kind of engine i got in my olds dynamic 88-65
found this number 386525A is that of any help?

Hi Guttke,
Welcome to TOC
386525A = Casting number, for the 425 block, that was used in '65.
Here are some numbers, for whatever they might be worth:
2 barrel carb/ 9.00:1 compression ratio = 300 HP @ 4400 RPM and 430 TQ @ 2400 RPM.
2 barrel carb/10.25:1 compression ratio = 310 HP @ 4400 RPM and 450 TQ @ 2400 RPM.
4 barrel carb/10.25:1 compression ratio = 360 HP @ 4800 RPM and 470 TQ @ 2800 RPM.
4 barrel carb/10.50:1 compression ratio = 370 HP @ 4800 RPM and 470 TQ @ 3200 RPM.
I believe, the last was used only in the (top of the line) Starfire:
