| I just got this car and I need to change the transmission fluid. Can anyone give any pointers on the procedure, where to fill, etc. I plan on dropping the transmission pan and changing the filter. Thanks! |

Norm, Thanks for the link concerning the manual. Unfortunately money is tight and I need to change the fluid before I buy the manual. It's a simple matter of priority It would be real cute if my tranny died waiting for a manual.
I have gotten some hints from searching vehicles that have a similar platform.
namely... Quote: On the transmission itself, close to the back of the filter and pan, there is a check plug. This plug, when opened, should be filled to just overflowing. 1. Jack your vehicle up or raise it on a lift, but it needs to be level so the fluids are level as well. 2. Open the check plug on the transmission. 3. Start your engine and shift the transmission into neutral. The transmission fluid should be at the level of the opened check plug. 4. If the fluid is lower than the check plug, or no fluid drips out, fill the transmission fluid until it just seeps out.
There is no dipstick, but there is a cap to fill transmission fluid accessible from under the hood. It is located on the right side of the engine bay between the power steering pump and the intake box.
I guess I'll try it this weekend . |

Just got my main computer with all the data running again...
Your info looks good...."Start your engine and shift the transmission into PARK", not Neutral...this is straight from the service manual linked by Norm.
