Yesterday my wife used my 2000 olds Intrigue. When she got out of Target she went to start the car and all she heard was the dreaded click click of the starter. I get a ride from work to where she was, try the car myself and get the same result. Ok i think I need a jump battery is dead or the alternator is shot. Get a jump and nothing except for the click click of the starter. I get a tow to my garage (Don the Car Care Man in Madison). They check out the starter motor; good; check the alternator; good; check the batter; good. They then start checking everything. Ends up being the aftermarket remote start (Viper) is causing some feedback in the system and killing all the other electronics in the car. They remove the remote starter system and return the car back to factory settings and status.
Anyone else have this happen to them. I'm the third owner of this car and noone else has had this problem previously. Could it be that the car now has 102500 miles on it? |

You didn't mention it, but did the "car care man" first check and
clean connections before checking the starter, battery and alternator?
Could be that simple. |

| You're right I didn't mention that. But yes they did check all the connections and clean them. |

Well, a faulty remote starter system could certainly cause a no start situation...
I actually had it happen on my mom's Intrigue (remote starter installed)...thing wouldn't start.
Disconnected battery, reconnected battery...all is well. Haven't had a problem since, I have speculations as to what caused it...but all that matters is it works now.

Tried disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it as well before the tow truck came.
I think it was just time for the thing to go. |
