If you relocate the battery be careful. I moved the battery to the back of my '71 cutlass, thought I had the cables routed safely, ran them inside the car. The positive cable got pinched, started a short, killed the engine, started a fire near the back seat
Be real careful.
You probably should find a place in the engine compartment, maybe the opposite side it is on now. Disconnect the ground cable first, then the positive cable, remove the battery, relocate the tray, use rope to measure the length of cable you will need, route the rope as you would the cable, that way you get the correct length if you are buying pre-fabricated cable lengths. Then install the positive cable, last install the negative cable, battery post first, block ground last (unless it is near a fuel line or something). The idea is to make sure the spark created by the connection is away from any fire source. Come to think of it, with the new non-maintnenance batteries that don't vent off gases, it might be ok to connnect the negative battery terminal last. Be sure to take care when you choose the route for your cables. Good luck. |

He needs to move his battery to get a good spot for his cold air intake...
Instead of moving the battery (especially to a silly place like on the passenger seat ;-) ) I would cut a hole in your hood for cold air. Better yet, remove the hood all together, it's merely cosmetic, and only provide aerodynamic benefits otherwise.
(ok ok... so the hood thing wasnt such a great idea) |

| that's a good one, I saw an article once where some guys were trying to reduce weight on a CRX or something to improve 1/4 mile times. Anyway, they started with little things but ended up with nothing but the frame and four space saver tires, they even took a sawzall to the back of the frame from the rear wheels back! It was real funny. |

2 feet??? wow! thats some decent acumulation!
I'd almost suggest you build an intake stack, like on those off road jeeps, that take air in above the windsheild :-) |
