#1. I have a right to express anger toward people who make negitive comments about my Cutlass.
#2. The fact that my mechanic has 30 years in this stuff isn't to impress you, just to help form a basic for my argument.
#3.The porcelain was cracked, so as you said, that can make it skip and such.
#4. Even if I know little about auto electronics, I do have the sence to let someone I KNOW IS ABLE TO WROK IN THIS AREA do the work so I don't fuck up.
#5. And for your information, I posted on ANTI-RICE not only after another member did, but to defend my car, not yours or anyone elses. If you want to not communicate with these people, that is your thing, whatever floats your boat. I wanted to get my kick out of them, and no longer am involved with that site in any way, as I have not poster, nor plan to, since Tusday (or what ever the day it was 1st posted was).
#6. If you didn't want to start a "pissing match" then when I dropped the subject last week, you too should have done so to keep the peace.
#7. IF YOU KNOW SO MUCH, WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH ARE YOU GOING BACK AND FORTH LIKE THIS WITH A 15 YEAR OLD KID??? |

P.S. Sorry to upset you about this, didn't think this engine was that common in many cars still on the road, thought most were junked long ago. :D |

That's one I can answer!
Strokercutlass has been with The Oldsmobile Connection for quite a while...since close to the beginning, he's just trying to help you out, his comments aren't meant to be negative....it would be different if he was flaming the hell out of people saying your stupid, stfu n00b and stuff like that (stuff I have seen at other forums). But, NO, stroker just gives his knowledge....most of the time
So just calm down....no need to fight about it....put it in the past, as if that oldsmobile racist site never existed! :D

haha..."oldsmobile racist site".... that's funny
as for posting on Anti Rice, I'd urge you to just stop. don't even go back to that site again. all they wanted was to get us worked up. I guess it worked. |

All I wanted to do was to say the car got a little 'tune up" if you can call it that. And yes, Strokercutlass was right, the porcelain was cracked, found that out Thursday after talking to the mechanic.
So lets end this topic here and keep the peace peaceful. |

strokercutlass wrote: And this is supposed to impress me HOW exactly? I've been an ASE certified Master Tech for 14 years now, not to mention running a 7 bay shop employing 11 people for the past 5 years, so throwing the "professional mechanic" thing out does absolutely nothing for me.
that's why I call you MACHISMO....you're never afraid to mention your qualifications
c'mon guys keep smiling, life's too short |

ok...I'll address this all one by one...
1. I didn't notice that they were making personal comments at your Cutlass.
2. Completely understandable. The reason I got a bit riled is due to the fact of the way it was worded and came off.
3. If this fact would have been known, this topic wouldn't have taken the direction it did. My intention was not to try and discredit you, it was simply to inform people that may not know much about cars either that a spark plug grounding due to oil just wasn't possible.
4. Also understandable.
5. I didn't see the members of Anti Rice attacking your car personally until you had made a comment about your car being better than their cars. While I'm all for "defending the cause", a comment like that is bound to attract comments.
6. Why should I have dropped it? To save bandwidth? You made a point of stating repeatedly that the plug was grounded due to being in oil. I was merely stating that that was not physically possible, in case other members without much automotive or mechanical knowledge would read it and believe it, as its a untrue statement.
7. Because I come here to give advice and teach people about their cars, ESPECIALLY ones with little or no experience working on them, so that hopefully they'll LISTEN and learn something that will prove useful to them somewhere down the road.
OldsGuy..thanks for the kind words.
Brando said a mouthful....My intentions weren't meant to sound negative. I was simply trying to correct mis information which you gave, so noone else would take it to heart.
85cieraholiday...if only your mechanic had told you this right away, it never would have went this far...I'm glad he did inform you of the true problem, especially while you're still learning about cars, so you can better learn about how various systems of cars function. I don't make it a point of coming here simply to tear into someone...I enjoy sharing what I know and being able to help out when I can, regardless of what the problem is. BTW, thanks for the props regarding the cracked porcelain....I appreciate you stepping up and telling us what actually caused the misfire problem.
73 Delta...... I take ALOT of pride in my work and qualifications, sometimes too much, I guess.....I spend much of my free time keeping myself updated on repair, diagnostics, and tire info so I can better serve my customers, explain problems with their vehicles to them in an easily understandable way, and try to save them some time and money if I can... I don't mean to "throw them around", but it sometimes helps for people to know my experience, so they'll actually listen, rather than think I don't know what I'm talking about. |
