OK, I give up. I've looked all over the car, checked the CSM, and I cannot find where the switch is that turns on and off the interior lights when I open and close the door. In my 68 and 87 there is the switch in the door jamb that does this. How the heck does my 95 Ciera know when to turn on or off the lights?

their seems to be 2 different ways that the 95 ciera determines when the door has been opened thus turning on interior lights.

the first type is the one we are all familier with.
the simple but effective little button type mounted next to door hinges.

the second type is quite different then this though.
i even have a picture of this 2nd. type of "switch".

not quite sure how it functions but it can be purchased at any auto parts store.

looks to be the type that sits close to the locking part of the door usually activated by a lever that apperently pushed down upon this "switch".

I don't know about your car, but my moms 94 LeSabre doesn't have one of those door jam buttons either. Instead the switch is located inside the door itself and is actuated by the locking mechanism. Heres what you do, open your door... lights come on. With a pencil/pen or finger or whatever, push in the lock like you were closing the door around the pin. Thats what i always did when i was doing something to my moms car and had the door open and wanted to stop the chiming :P *just make sure you open the door in a since to release it, or else when you close it it will be a big thump :)
