|
|
I got my '94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera from my grandma almost two years ago. At first, I only liked her because she smelled good, like lavender... and my grandma. But now she smells like me, a 21 year old guy, and old McDonalds bags in the backseat.
Recently I've been learning to love her though.
She's got nice power, even though the transmission is pretty gay sometimes. She's part of a dying race, it somehow makes me proud. Besides Caddies, she's on the higher end of good looking "GT Cruisers" (I call them that because my gram is Grandma T.) And hey, she just hit 70K miles, not bad for a 10 year old (I've put on 20K of them).
Things to be fixed:
Won't start after it rains (I think I need new plugs and wires).
Cruise control broken.
Front, right blinker lens broken.
Not-too-noticable scrape/dent on right side.
Minor rust spots.
What I'm thinking about doing (besides fixes):
17" rims (not gaudy or too sporty, they have to fit).
Smoother, less bouncy suspension.
Disc brakes all-around.
Maybe a paint-job? (She's currently baby blue.)
I dunno... just ideas. Maybe I'll decide I don't like her this much.
Any input? I'd love to hear it... |

| Welcome! I would try the plugs and wires for that starting problem. I had the same thing with a Cougar I had in college. On cold rainy days it ran like crap. I had it tuned up and it would come back after a short time. The first winter I had it, it wouldn't start one day, so the dealer replaced the plugs and wires and it was fine for two years. The next time it happened I had it tuned up, but didn't have them do the plugs/wires, and it came back shortly after. So I'm convinced looking back on it, that if I had done the plugs/wires every couple of years, it would have been fine. Of course, if it was, I wouldn't have traded it in in '98 on the Cutlass Supreme I have now. |

| If it's nice over Easter weekend I'll give her a bath and take some shots with my dad's digital camera. I'm majoring in Photography but I don't have a digital. |

Borrowed a digital camera today, should have some pictures up soon.
Here's a tentative modification "wish list" in projected order:
1. Ashtray removed - stealth head unit (maybe speakers?, no $$$)
2. High-flow air intake
3. Rust fixed, shaved dealer badges - new paint
4. Clean up engine - polished intake manifold
5. Added pod tachometer
6. Akuza Sublime 17x7" wheels - ?tires
7. Eibach performance 1" drop springs
8. Split dual exhaust setup - ?mufflers
9. LED brake lights, blue headlights
Will add more if I think of anything. |

| I know the feeling, my grand ma lived with us until she died when I was 6. At 6 am she was in her room (we think about to take herself to the hospital) when she collapsed. My room was across the hall and I watched as my parents called 911 her life slip away. The last thing she saw was me standing in the doorway looking at her in terror. Its never easy to loose a loved on, and even harder to wach them die right in front of you. |

STOLEN...
I walked outside last Friday morning and she was gone. I'll let you all know if she gets found. |

thats terrible, man!!! I hate having shit stolen. I had my car broken into, they gave it the "whack" and smashed it into the light pole at the end of the driveway. I've had my car raided at least 3 times, stereo stuff, cd's etc...
those theiving bastards... they'll get their's sooner or later. |
