| I'll pull it off for the summer, clean under the hood, see if i can get an oldsmobile symbol decal made like my side pic <---, and throw it back on before winter comes. |

| the heat won't melt the PVC cause that pipe can only handle so much heat.... |

| im talking about the heat cover thing on top of the hood, i wanna take if off during the summer cause it gets really hot, but in the winter it'll be usefull faster warm ups. For the intake side of things im getting a custom cold air intake made by RSM racing beginning of July, it'll cost 300$ |

would that really make a difference?? seems like if your cooling system is in good shape you shouldn't have to touch that... |

| I dont have mine on anymore... I washed my engine once after I bought the car, and it started to blow pieces of the insulation all over my engine compartment, so I ripped it off in the car wash and left it for them to take care of ;-) |

| just to reduce engine compartment heat. We all know heat rises so, thats kinda holdin the heat down. The would effect the MAF heated wire component inside. The hotter the engine is the less power you have correct? Also alot of the heat is from my exhaust manifolds because there open no cover of them. When i pop open my hood i can see heat waves rising up like u see from BBQ's. That doesnt happen to newer cars ive seen. Have any of you noticed this? |

| I'm not sure, but I could check when my dad gets home, he has a 99 s-10 with a 4.3 in it. I'll check either today if he gets home early enough or tomorrow. |

It sounds great... a friend and I just installed one on his 4 banger ford ranger... improved sound and performance SOOO much... really, this is an unbelievably cool, cheap mod.
Any questions on how I did anything, just lemme know.
BTW, I'll get more pics up soon... just been busy, I've worked 60 hours/week the last few, besides my car and my grandma dying. |

I love the CAI's aswell.
Anyone who is interested to know this: I made and installed the CAI in the depth of our canadian winter, at temperatures of less than -30 celcius, with no cold start or running problems at all... It is now up into the positive 20's around here and still no problems. So cold and warm weather, if you made it right, wont affect the car either.
Speedy266, heat waves rising from your engine compartment when you open it doesnt mean a whole lot. You need to find out exactly what temperature your engine is running at. If it gets too hot, change your thermostat. When you are driving down the road, it doesnt matter about the insulation under the hood, because air flow will dissapate most of the heat. I think more than anything, the insulation is for noise reduction. |
