Yesterday I pulled the ashtray out of my Ciera and remounted the electrical outlet to face downwards (so its not ugly). I'm putting the metal piece back in (ripped out "drawer"... everything ecxept the front door. I'm planning to put a hinge on the door and use a magnet for closure.
Anyways, the end goal of this is to mount a head unit in the ashtray, leaving the original face in its place as a decoy. (Possibly installing an LCD clock in place of the original, if its possible. Eventually I'd like to install other audio gear in discreet locations as well.
I've just seen too many stereos stolen (and damage to the car with that).
Ideas or comments? Done the same thing? Let me know. |

Sounds pretty cool....stealth install is the best way to go IMO!
I was thinking of just putting a piece of ABS plastic over my radio in the usual location, using something like ball and scoket type speaker grill mounts or maybe magnets. So it would look like I had NO radio :D
