Is this all the time? or is it only when the engine is first started? Does the idle go back down in park and neutral when the engine is warm? Its normal for the car to have a high idle in park and neutral when the engine is cold. If it is still fairly high after it is warmed up, i think u may need to adjust ur idle screw. im not sure wat the TPS voltage is at idle for ur car, do u have the 3.8?

Why the 3.3?
If you're gonna upgrade, I would go with the 3.8L V6! :D

3.8's are good! :-) If it pushes my 3500 pound grampa car as good as it does, then your little machine would just HAUL! (cheap motor and reliable too)

run an OBDII test and see what codes you get. I bet there is a bad sensor or valve which is causing the fuel injection system to stay on high idle all the time.

don't waste your effort.... unless you found a FREE engine or something that would be more hassle than it's worth to convert and install.

so..when you buy that 3.3 for $150, does that include the transmission, the ECM, the complete engine compartment wiring harness, all the mounts, and everything ELSE needed to install a 3.3 in your car, originally equipped with a 2.5 tech 4? Just curious......

I'm kinda interested too :?
Plus, the Ciera didn't even come with the 3.3 in 88'.
Although...the Ciera did come with a 3.8! 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, 2.5 L4, 2.8 V6, and 3.8 V6.

like I said before.... it's going to be a major bitch to do that, but if you can get all the parts you need for next to nothing and you really know what you're doing, I guess I'd say go for it.

if you really want something with a 3.8 I know where you can get a 1993 Ninety Eight that's in great condition! it's not a "fast" car but I'm sure it would beat the pants off what you have now!
