Answer: Neither one. Get a factory manual(s). They are usually available on e-bay.

BTW, my factory manuals for my 95 Ciera are over 4" thick.

I'd love the shop manuals for my car... But arent they painsteakingly expensive? My dad always got shop manuals when they got a new vehicle. As I remember, they were always at least 300 bux extra!

Yeah, nothing compares to the real GM shop manual with all the parts break downs and such. I wonder if I could find a set used or something?

No, they were never that much even new. I got my 95 Ciera manuals on ebay for $46.50 shipped. The most I ever paid for manuals was the 68 Chassis Service manual I got in mint condition (book had never been opened, still hasn't been, he, he) for $70.00. Check out ebay, you'll find them.

BTW, if your dad bought the manuals with his car through the dealership I'll bet the dealer marked them up big time  . That might be why they seemed more expensive. I used to buy mine right from the publisher in Lansing (Lansing Lithographers, now, I think, out of business) for $20 to $40 depending on the book.

Here's a link for the Fisher Body manual for 1988. It is the factory body manual for all GM lines including the Delta 88 :D : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7900015437&category=6762&sspagename=WDVW

If you go to the ebay site check out the guy's other auctions. He has a LOT of service manuals for sale. I didn't find a Chassis Service manual for your 88, but keep searching, they're out there. Local swap meets are always good places for manuals too.

88delta88, this might be what you are looking for. I would email seller before bidding and comfirm the CSM's are for the 88 (the pics are too small to read the printing on the front), but you get all 3 manuals.

I have a shop manual for my 73... it's the factory manual, it covers most of the models from 73, and it's at least 4" thick. I found it in the basement of the Olds dealership that I worked at for a summer, they just let me take it. (they probably didn't even know it was there anyway!)

it's been incredibly useful

Sorry, Brando, I didn't. But here's the great thing about ebay: If you don't find it today, keep looking. It will turn up (usually sooner than you think). Make sure you ask sellers questions and pay attention to feedback (both the numbers and look at the actual comments in the feedback).
